HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-02-09 - Minutes - Archive• • MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS The Housing Authority of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas met in Special Session at 8:30 o'clock a.m., Monday, Febro0. 9, 1976, in the office of the Authority, i{1 North School Avenue, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Mr. Gould, Chairman, called the meeting to order. On roll call the following members were present: Commissioners: Gould, Morgan, Underwood, Taylor, Clinton Commissioners Absent: None Others Present: Chad Kumpe, Bromo Wilson, Delbert Allen, Pat Warford, Steve Brown, Tammi Reed, Pat Bonet, Edward Moran, Marion Orton, Frank Sharp, Hugh Kincaid The Chairman ordered that the following Waiver and Consent be spread upon the Minutes: WAIVER OF NOTICE OF AND CONSENT TO SPECIAL MEETING We, the undersigned, do hereby accept notice of this SPECIAL MEETING, waiving any and all Lrregularities in the service of notice and do hereby consent and agree that the Commissioners of the Housing Authority of Fayetteville, Arkansas shall meet at their regular meeting place at 8:30 o'clock a.m., on the 9th day of February, 1976, for the following purposes: 1. Roll Call 2. Discuss and accept a proposal for alternate use, preliminary design and cost estimates on the Old Post Office building. The proposal is from McBryde, Crisp and Associates. /s/ J. W. Gould /s/ Sherman Morgan /s/ Bill Underwood /s/ Phillip Taylor /s/ Roy Clinton 410 There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: • • • 2 RESOLUTION NO. 217 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT WITH MCBRYDE, CRISP, AND ASSOCIATES FOR STUDY OF ALTERNATE USE, PRELIMINARY DESIGN AND COST ESTIMATES ON THE OLD POST OFFICE BUILDING Mr. Kumpe explained that when the Urban Renewal Project ends December, 1976, the Old Post Office building will revert to the City. However, if the City should find it inpractical before the close of the project to use the building, it would be good to have a survey of alternate uses for the building. The cost of this survey can be added to the purchase price of the building should it be sold. Mr. Kumpe stated that he has talked with the City Manager, Don Grimes, and Mr. Grimes statedkthat due to the present situation of the City, they are also interested in the results of such a survey. Mr. Gould asked Mayor Orton for, her comments. Mrs. Orton stated that she also has talked with Mr. Grimes concerning this. They feel that since the City cannot make a committment concerning the building at this time, that this survey may be beneficial to the City also. After discussion, Resolution No. 217 was approved by motion of Mr. Underwood, seconded by Mr. Morgan, and carried unanimously. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS CHAIRMAN • • • RESOLUTION NO. 217 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT WITH MCBRYDE, CRISP, AND ASSOCIATES FOR STUDY OF ALTERNATE USE, PRELIMINARY DESIGN AND COST ESTIMATES ON THE OLD POST OFFICE BUILDING WHEREAS, the Fayetteville Housing Authority of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas may find it necessary to sell the Old Post Office building to a purchaser other than the City of Fayetteville, and; WHEREAS a comprehensive study is needed to better accomplish this broad purpose; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE enter into a contract with McBryde, Crisp, and Associates for a study of alternate uses, preliminary design and cost estimates on the Old Post Office building, with the contract price not to exceed $5,600.00.
