HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-12-10 - Minutes - Special• • 1 MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS The Housing Authority of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas met in Special Session at 8:30 o'clock a.m., Wednesday, December 10, 1975, in the office of the Authority, #1 North School Avenue, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Mr. Gould, Chairman, called the meeting to order. On roll call the following members were present: Commissioners: Gould, Taylor, Underwood, Morgan, Clinton Commissioners Absent: None Others Present: Chad Kumpe, Bromo Wilson, Delbert Allen, Pat Warford, Pat Donat, Hugh Kincaid The Chairman ordered that the following Waiver and Consent be spread upon the Minutes: WAIVER OF NOTICE OF AND CONSENT TO SPECIAL MEETING We, the undersigned, do hereby accept notice of this SPECIAL MEETING, waiving any and all irregularities in the service of notice and do hereby consent and agree that the Commissioners of the Housing Authority of Fayetteville, Arkansas shall meet at their regular meeting place at 8:30 o'clock a.m., on the 10th day of December, 1975, for the following purposes: 1. Roll Call 2. Resolution Approving the Purchase and Installation of a Boiler for the Hillcrest Towers Building Ark 97-1 3. Resolution Approving Contract with C. M. Hunts and Associates and Dr. C. P. Rao for a Feasibility Study of Alternative Development Patterns for Downtown Fayetteville Urban Renewal Project Ark R-105 /s/ Sherman Morgan /s/ Bill Underwood /s/ J. W. Gould /s/ Phillip Taylor /s/ Roy Clinton There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: • • • -2 RESOLUTION NO. 210 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF A BOILER FOR THE HILLCREST TOWERS BUILDING ARK 97-1 Mr. Kumpe asked Mr. Allen to bring the commissioners up to date on the boiler situation. Mr. Allen stated that HUD has suggested purchasing a new boiler at this time instead of going into extensive repairs of the old boiler. The Housing Authority can enter into a contract with a local plumber for materials and labor for installation of the boiler. After further discussion, Resolution No. 210 was approved by motion of Mr. Underwood, seconded by Mr. Morgan, and carried unanimously. RESOLUTION NO. 211 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT WITH C. M. HUNTS AND ASSOCIATES AND DR. C. P. RAO FOR A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF ALTERNATIVE DEVELOPMENT PATTERNS FOR DOWNTOWN FAYETTEVILLE URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT ARK. R-105 Mr. Kumpe stated that in view of the fact that only one yearsremains to complete redevedtopment on the Square, he feels it is necessary to get all real estate involved out of Housing Authority hands into the hands of private developers. Mr. Kumpe further stated that what he expects from this survey is to identify the best useage for this real estate, and to also identify specific prospects that this property could be sold to. After discussion, Resolution No. 211 was approved by motion of Mr. Underwood, seconded by Mr. Clinton, and carried unanimously. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS CHAIRMAI • RESOLUTION NO. 210 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF A BOILER FOR THE HILLCREST TOWERS BUILDING ARK 97-1 WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City of Fayetteville is conscious of the need for a standby boiler for the Hillcrest Towers Building, and; WHEREAS, the present bobler is in need of extensive repairs, and; WHEREAS, such repairs cannot be made without shutting down present boiler for a long period of time, and; WHEREAS, an emergency exists so as the possibility of injury to life and destruction of property; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE: 1. Purchase a new bo.i:ler from Cleaver -Brooks Boiler Company. The new boiler will be the same model and size as the present boiler so as to make installation and exchange of parts more feasible. Purchase price of new boiler to be $7,710.00 delivered to Fayetteville. 2. Enter into contract with Fayetteville Plumbing and Heating Company for installation of new boiler on a material and labor cost basis with contract amount not to exceed $5,740.00. HUNTS AND ASSOCIATES AND DR. C. P. RAO FOR A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF ALTERNATIVE DEVELOPMENT PATTERNS FOR DOWNTOWN FAYETTEVILLE URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT ARK. R-105 WHEREAS, the Fayetteville Housing Authority of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is engaged in selling land and redevelopment of the downtown area; and, WHEREAS, a comprehensive study is needed to better accomplish this broad purpose; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THATATHE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE enter into a contract with C. M. Hunt and Associates and Dr. C. P. Rao for a feasibility study of alternative development patterns for Downtown Fayetteville with the contract price not to exceed $13,322.00.
