AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS
APRIL 18, 1968
• The Housing Authority of the City of Fayettevile, Arkansas
met at 10:00 a.m. April 18, 1968 in the Director's Room,
City Administration Building, Fayetteville.
Members present: L.L.Baxter,Ellis Shelton, J.W.Gould,Hal Douglas
Members absent: Carl Whillock
Others present: Warren Segraves,Hugh Kincaid, James Vizzier,
Ora Belle Rollow, Gerald Fox
The minutes of the meeting of March 20, 1968 were approved by motion
of J.W.Gould, seconded by Ellis Shelton,arid the vote recorded:
Ayes: Shelton, Douglas, Gould, Baxter
Nayes: None
Motion carried unanimously
The financial report was approved by motion of Mr Gould,seconded
by Mr. Shelton and the vote reocrded:
Ayes: Shelton, Gould, Douglas, Baxter
Nayes: None
Motion carried unanimously
The chairman asked for a report on the site for elderly as pro-
posed at the March 20th meeting.
• After extensive exploration by the Executive Director and several
of the commissioners it was found that there would be difficulty
in acquiring the Maplewood addition behind Safeway Stores from the
owner at a fair market price and that many residents living in the
immediate neighborhood objected to this land use and the subsequent
rezoning which would be necessary.
Mr. Douglas made a motion that the Board of Commissioners cease
further consideration of the Maplewood addition site and approve
the Hillcrest Junior School site, comprised of a city block
bounded by School -West -Center -Meadow streets, for the construction
of 120 units for housing for elderly. Motion seconded by Mr. Shelton
and the following vote recorded:
Ayes: Douglas, Shelton, Gould, Baxter
Nayes: None
Motion carried unanimously
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned by motion
of Mr. Gould, seconded by Shelton and motion carried unanimously.
