MINUTES OF.REGULAR MEETING OF THE
HOUSING AUTHORITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS
A regular meeting of the Housing Authority of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was
held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 1966, in the Directors' Room in
the City Administration Building, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Members present: Hal Douglas, Bill Gould, Ellis Shelton, J. E. Pomfret.
Members absent: L. L. Baxter.
Others present: J. A. Vizzier, Planning Consultant.
The meeting was called to order by Vice -Chairman Ellis Shelton,
J. A. Vizzier reported on.his meeting with the Downtown Association.
Mr. Vizzier said to do an urban renewal project in the downtown area,
2 1/2 million dollars would have to be raised. Using maps he explained
the possible source for some of this money. For discussion purposes
Mr. Vizzier presented a plan for an urban renewal project.
Mr. Vizzier reported he had begun to fill out an application for a General
Neighborhood Renewal Plan. The next step would be for the Housing Authority
to choose the site and then determine how to finance the project. The
members of the Housing Authority agreed to meet with Ellis Burgin, Chairman
of the City Revitalization Committee and principal persons to discuss
financing an urban renewal project. Other persons could be contacted
later.
There was discussion of parking facilities in the downtown area. Mr. J. E.
Pomfret moved that the Housing Authority by resolution recommend to the
Board of Directors that a Parking Authority be created to develop parking
facilities downtown which in turn could be used in an urban renewal project.
The motion was seconded by Hal Douglas and passed unanimously.

RESOLUTION REQUESTING CREATION OF A PARKING AUTHORITY FOR THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:
The Board of Directors be requested to create a Parking Authority
to help develop downtown parking facilities which in turn could be used
in an urban renewal project.

Hal Douglas moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by J. E. Pomfret
and passed unanimously. The Vice -Chairman declared the meeting adjourned.
