Grimes; Treasurer Pat Tobin; Secretary Darlene Westbrook; and Board members Charles McWhorter, Don Miller, Ronald McArthur, and Dean Harris ABSENT: Howard Boudrey The meeting was called to order by Chairman Grimes who asked if there be any corrections to the minutes of the July 6, 1965 meeting. There being none, Charles McWhorter, seconded by Dean Harris, moved that the minutes be approved as submitted. The motion carried unanimously. Don Miller, seconded by Charles McWhorter, moved that the Pension list for the month of August be approved. The motion carried unanimously in voice vote of the Board. Old business included the discussion of proposed correspondence with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Federal Loan Insurance Corpora- tion to determine their extent of coverage on pension fund deposits. Mr. Grimes stated that he had not as yet requested the information but would do so at the earliest date. New business included the issuance .of 20 -year certificates of service to Alonzo Farrar and Carl Springston. Mr. McWhorter reported that, even though Mr. Springston had not been of age when he initially joined the department, the City Attorney had unofficially rendered the opinion that since the firemen had voted to accept Mr. Springston, he should receive credit for the four months he was in service prior to his coming of age. Members of the Board signed the two certificates. Mr. Tobin reported that he had received a call from Dr. Bob Hall in regard to the proposed actuarial study for the fund. Dr. Hall had quoted a study cost of $1,400 for an in-depth study and $400-800 cost for a basic study. Following discussion, Mr. McWhorter stated that he would like to have the matter discussed at the upcoming meeting of the firemen for their comment and discussion before any commitments were made. There being no further business, Charles McWhorter, seconded by Ronald McArthur, motioned to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously and the meeting was adjourned by Chairman Grimes.
