HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-01-06 Minutes• • MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE FIREMEN'S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND January 6, 1975 The regular monthly meeting of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Board was held January 6, 1975 at 4:30 p.m. in the City Manager's Office. Present: Donald L. Grimes, Chairman; Pat Tobin, Treasurer; Darlene West- hrook brook, Secretary; and Fire Pension Board members Larry Poage, Donald Miller, and N. D. McChristian Absent: Fire Chief Charles McWhorter, Ronald McArthur The meeting was called to order by Chairman Grimes. Following roll call, the minutes of the December 2, 1974 meeting were considered for approval. There being no corrections or additions, Larry Poage moved that the minutes be approved. The motion was seconded by Donald Miller and was passed in a unanimous voice vote of the Board. The minutes were declared approved as submitted. Donald Miller, seconded by N. D. McChristian, then moved that the January pension list be approved. In voicecvote of the Board the motion carried unanimously. Treasurer Pat Tobin reported that information was being gathered for submission to Dr. Bob Hall so that a cost estimate for a proposed study and evaluation of the pension fund could be made. Mr. Tobin then informed the Board that $178,000 would be available January 16, 1975 for reinvestment. Following discussion, the Board concurred with a suggestion from Mr. Grimes to delay a decision regarding the, reinvestment until the Treasurer had the opportunity to contact financial institutions in order to obtain the highest interest rate possible on a one-year investment. Larry Poage then moved to adjourn the meeting untlto held a special meeting on January 16 at 4:30 p.m. for the purpose of taking action on the reinvestment.• The motion was seconded by Donald Miller and was passed unanimously by the Board.
