MINUTES OF MEETING OF FIREMEN'S PENSION
AND RELIEF FUND BOARD
FEBRUARY 4, 1974
4:30 P.M. CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE
Present: Donald Grimes, Chairman; Pat Tobin, Treasurer, Sandra Carlisle;
Secretary; Charles McWhorter, Fire Chief; and Fire Pension Board members
Larry Poage, Bill Boudrey, and Richard Baird.
Minutes of the January 7, 1974 meeting had been previously distributed to
the Board members. Richard Baird moved the minutes be approved. Bill
Boudrey seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Chief McWhorter reported two members drawing Firemen's Pension were
deceased, C. Frank Johnson and Mrs. S. M. Cook. C. Frank Johnson had
remarried after retirement and his widow's benefits, if any, were
discussed. Chief McWhorter made the motion that 'Jim McCord, City
Attorney, be notified to research whether Mrs. Johnson had any benefits.
Richard Baird seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Bill
Boudrey moved that Mrs. S. M. Cook be stricken from the Pension
Fund. Richard Baird seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Chief McWhorter moved the Pension Authorization Form for the month
of February be approved, excluding C. Frank Johnson and Mrs. S. M.
Cook. Richard Baird seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Treasurer Pat Tobin presented a copy of the 1973 financial statement.
Bill Boudrey moved to accept the financial statement. Chief McWhorter
seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Chief McWhorter moved that Larry Mason and Wayne Watts, who have been
re -hired, be required to sign a statement to the effect that they
would not replace the money drawn from the Pension Fund during the
interim they were not employed by the Fire Department. Bill Boudrey
seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Chief McWhorter made a motion that $35,000.00 be invested at 714
for 48 months. Bill Boudrey seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
There being no further business, Charles McWhorter moved the meeting
be adjourned. Bill Boudrey seconded the motion which passed unanimous-
ly. Chairman Grimes declared the meeting adjourned.
