BOARD OF TRUSTEES
• FIREMEN'S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND
September 8, 1970
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension and Relief
Fund of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was held in the Directors Room in the City
Administration Building on Tuesday, September 8, 1970, at 4:30 p.m.
Present:
Chairman Wesley
M. Howe, Secretary
Marilyn Moore, Fire Chief Burl
Skelton
and Board Members:
Paul Logue, Carl
Springston, and Dean Harris,
Absent:
Treasurer Patrick
J. Tobin and Board
Member Joe Fraley.
Mr. Springston moved to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting on
Monday, August 3, 1970, and the minutes of the special meeting on Monday,
August 10, 1970, copies of which had previously been mailed to each Board
Member.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Logue, and upon roll call the following vote
was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Logue, Springston, and Harris.
"Nay" none. There being four "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared
the motion passed.
The Secretary presented the Authorization Form to pay the August pensions.
Mr. Logue moved that the disbursements be allowed. The motion was seconded
by Mr. Springston, and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye"
Skelton, Logue, Springston, and Harris.
"Nay" none. There being four "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared
• the motion passed.
The Secretary reported that checks for Certificates of Deposits from Savings
and Loan institutions in Bentonville, Rogers, and Springdale had been received
making a total of $45,000.00. Fifteen thousand dollars has not been received
from the Savings and Loan institution in Siloam Springs.
Mr. Skelton moved that the Treasurer be instructed to secure the $100,000.00
investment at McIlroy Bank authorized at the August 10, 1970 meeting, on
the date of September 9, 1970, if possible, using the $45,000.00 received
from Certificates of Deposit and the rest from the checking account if there
is sufficient money in the account to complete the investment and make the
September pension disbursement.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Harris, and upon roll call the following vote
was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Logue, Springston, and Harris.
"Nay" none. There being four "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared the
motion passed.
Mr. Skelton moved that the Treasurer be instructed to prepare a nine month
financial statement for the next meeting showing where the Firemen's Pension
and Relief Fund investments are with an itemized account of all income includ-
ing money received from the County, Insurance Commission, interest, ect. from
January 1, 1970; and that in the future, the Board receive a quarterly state-
ment with this information.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Harris, and upon roll call the following vote
. was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Logue, Springston, and Harris.
• "Nay" none. There being four "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared the
motion passed.
There being no further business, Mr. Skelton moved to adjourn. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Harris and passed unanimously, whereupon the Chairman
declared the meeting adjourned.
