HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-06-01 MinutesMINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING • BOARD OF TRUSTEES FIREMEN'S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND June 1, 1970 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was held in the Directors Room in the City Admini- stration Building on Monday, June 1, 1970, at 4:30 p.m. Present: Chairman Wesley M. Howe, Treasurer Patrick J. Tobin, Secretary Marilyn Moore, Fire Chief Burl Skelton and Board Members: Paul Logue and Carl Springston. Absent: Joe Fraley and Paul Blackard. Mr. Logue moved to approve the minutes of the last regular meeting on Monday, May 4, 1970, a copy of which had previously been mailed to each Board Member. The motion was seconded by Mr. Skelton, and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Logue, and Springston. "Nay" none. There being three "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared the motion passed. The Secretary presented the Authorization Form to pay the May pensions. Mr. Springston moved that the disbursements be allowed. The motion was seconded by Mr. Skelton, and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Logue, and Springston. "Nay" none. There being three "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared the motion passed. • The Treasurer distributed a Schedule of Investments to each Board Member. Mr. Skelton reported that Ellis N. Poore, a retired fireman, had passed away. Mr. Springston moved that Mrs. Ellis N. Poore be paid $125.00 a month, the maximum allowed under State law, as the widow of a retired fireman. The motion was seconded by Mr. Logue, and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Logue, and Springston. "Nay" none. There being three "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared the motion passed. Mr. Skelton reported that Orville Stout will not be able to report to work as previously thought at the end of his 90 days temporary disability authorized at the March 2, 1970 meeting. Mr. Springston moved that Orville Stout's disability pension be continued at the rate of $265.00 per month until a Doctor's Certificate is received stating that Mr. Stout is able to return to work. The motion was seconded by Mr. Logue, and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Logue, and Springston. "Nay" none. There being three "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared the motion passed. Mr. Skelton reported that the First National Bank of Fayetteville would pay 7$ interest on a $100,000.00 investment. Treasurer Tobin reported that the Republic National Bank of Dallas would pay 8% interest on a $100,000.00 short term (less than 30 days) investment. There being no further business, Mr. Springston moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Mr. Skelton and passed unanimously, whereupon the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned.
