The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension & Relief Fund of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was held in the City Clerk's Office on Tuesday, September 3, 1968, at 4:45 P. M. Present: Chairman, City Manager Gerald G. Fox, Secretary George J. Davis, Fire Chief Burl Skelton, and Board Members: Paul Logue, Paul Blackard, Bill Harris, and Clarence Tune. gsent: Treasurer Albert J: Jones. The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, August 5, 1968, were read and approved. The Secretary presented the Authorization Form to pay the August pensions. Mr. Tune moved that the disbursements be allowed. The motion was seconded by Mr. Blackard and upon roll call the following vote was recordedr "Ayg" Skelton, Logue, Blackard, Harris, and Tune. "Nay" None. There being Five "Ayes" and No "Nays", the Chairman declared the motion passed. The Secretary reported that he had received the Application for Pension from Donald W.Watts, filed in his Office on August 7, 1968, after 20 years service, ending July8, 1968. Mr. Watts was a full-time paid Fireman receiving a salary of $400.00 per month which would permit him to draw a pension of one-half that amount or $200.00 per month. Mr. Harris moved to accept the application of Donald W. Watts for a pension and that the Secretary be and he is hereby authorized and directed to place his name on the pension list at $200.00 per month effective as of August 1, 1968. •The motion was seconded by Mr. Tune and upon roll call the following vote was recorded, "Aye" Skelton, Logue, Blackard, Harris, and Tune. "Nay" None. There being Five "Ayes" and No "Nays", the Chairman declared the motion passed. The Secretary reported that he had received the sum of $12,267.10 from the State Insurance Commissioner and that made a surplus in the chedking account of $15,000.00 to invest. He further reported that he had called the Liberty Savings & Loan Association, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and they stated that their Savings & Loan Association paid 51$ Interest on VR Certificates of $15,000.00, payable every six months. He further reported that,after calling a majority of the Board Members, he had made the investment of $15,000.00 with the Liberty Savings & Loan Association at 5k%. Mr. Harris moved to approvedthe investment with the Liberty Savings & Loan Association as reported by the Secretary. The motion was seconded by Mr. Blackard and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Logue, Blackard, Harris, and Tune. "Nay" None. There being "Five "Ayes" and No "Nays", the Chairman declared the motion passed. There being no further business, Mr. Skelton moved to adjourn.
