HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-01-08 Minutes• MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE FIREMAN'S PENSION & RELIEF FUND OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension & Relief Fund of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was held in the City Clerk's Office on Monday, January 8, 1968, at 4:45 P.M. Present: Fire Chief Burl Skelton, Secretary George J. Davis, and Board Members: Doyle Morrison,Bi'l*oHarxisj:andoghailes McWhorter. Absent: Chairman Mayor Don Txumbo, City Treasurer Albert J. Jones, and Board Member Clarence Tune. In the absence of Mayor Trumbo, Fire Chief Skelton acted as Chairman Pro Tem. The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, December 4, 1967, were read and approved. The Secretary presented the Authorization Form to pay the December pensions. Mr. Harris moved that the disbursements be allowed. The motion was seconded by Mr. McWhorter and upon roil call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Morrison, Harris, and McWhorter. "Nay" None. There being Four "Ayes" and No "Nays", the Chairman Pro Tem declared the motion passed. The Secretary reported that the Pension Fund had a surplus in the checking account • of $10,000.00 which could be invested as the Board desired. Mr Skelton moved that the Secretary be and he is hereby authorized to invest $5,000.00 with the Superior Federal Savings and Loan Association, Fort Smith, Arkansas,and, $50000.00 with the Peoples Federal Savings and Loan Association, Fort Smith, Arkansas. The motion was seconded by Mr. McWhorter and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Morrison, Harris, and McWhorter. "Nay" None. There being four "AYEQ" and No "NAYS", the Chairman Pro Tem declared the motion passed. The Board informally authorized the Secretary to reimburse James A. Thomas the amount he had contributed to the Pension and Relief Fund, which was the sum of $119.68. (This check was written on January 9, 1968.) There being no further business, Mr.BcWhorter moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Mr. Harris, and passed unanimously, whereupon the Chairman Pro Tem declared the meeting adjourned.
