HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-10-10 Minutes0 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE FIREMEN'S PENSION & RELIEF FUND The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was held in the City Clerk's Office on Monday, October 10, 1966, at 4:45 P. M. Present: Fire Chief Burl Skelton, Secretary George J. Davis, and Board Members: Clarence Tune, Doyle Morrison, and Charles McWhorter. Absent: Mayor Don Trumbo, Treasurer Albert J. Jones, and Board Member Bill Harris. In the absence of MMyor Don Trumbo, Fire Chief Burl Skelton acted as Chairman Pro Tem. The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, August 8, 1966, were read and approved. The Secretary presented the authorization forms to pay the August and September pensions. Mr. Morrison moved that the disbursements be allowed. The motion was seconded • by Mr. Tune and upon roll call the following vote was recorded, "Aye" Skelton, Tune, Morrison, and McWhorter. "Nay" None. There being four "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman Pro Tem declared the motion passed. The Secretary reported that he had cashed a series of matured U. S. Government K Bonds in the amount of $4,000.009 therebyyhaving a surplus in the checking fund of $10,000.00 which could be invested as the Board desired. He recommended investing this sum with the Bank of Elkins since they would Pay 40 %nterest, compounded quarterly, as the Banks in Fayetteville and Springdale were paying and had the same insurance. After a brief discussion, Mr. Tune moved that the Secretary be and he is hereby aughorized to invest the sum of $10,000.00 for a Savings Certificate with the Bank of Elkins, Elkins, Arkansas.at Q% compounded quarterly. The motion was seconded by Mr. McWhorter and upon roll call the following vote was recorded, "Aye" Skelton, Tune, Morrison, and McWhorter. "Nay" None. There being four "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman Pro Tem declared the motion passed. Fire Chief Skelton reported that it was agreed with the City Manager, during the Negotiations for off-duty Firemen to operate the Ambulance Service, that one dollar per Ambulance run would be donated annually to the Firemen's Pension & Relief Fund of Fayetteville, Arkansas to be donated by the City Bf Fayetteville Ambulance Service.
