HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-12-04 Minutesr �y MINUTES OF • THE FIREMEN'S PENSION & RELIEF FUND BOARD OF TRUSTEES LJ The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension N Relief Fund of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was held in the City Clerk's Office on Monday, December 49 1961. Present: Chairman Guy E. Brown, Secretary George J. Davis, Fire Chief Burl Skelton, and Board Members: Frank Johnson, Bill Morris, Arthur Caselman and Doyle Morrison. r Absent: Ireasurer Roy Nix. The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, November 6, 1961, were read and approved. The Secretary presented the authorization form to pay the November pensions. Mr. Morrison moved that the disbursements be allowed. The motion was seconded by Mr. Skelton and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Johnson, Morris, Caselman, and Morrison. "Nay" None. There being five "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Ohairman declared the motion passed. Mr. Frank Johnson presented a photostatic copy of a letter from the Gravette,Arkansas, Fire Department which reads as follows: Gravette, Arkansas March 31, 1950 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Frank Johnson was an active member of the volunteer Fire Department of the City of Gravette from April 10, 1939, to February 1, 19410 in good standing. Signed: Fire Chief, J. A. Ferrel Mayor, Hal C. Ralston Mr. Johnson also presented photo static copies of Membership Cards from the Northwest Arkansas Firemen's Association showing that he was in good standing during the years 1939 and 1941. After a brief discussion, Mr. Skelton moved to accept the evidence as presented by Mr. Frank ;Johnson of his service with the Gravette, Arkansas, Fire Department and approve his eligibility of 20 years service for `retirement as of August 10, 1961, from the Fayetteville, Arkansas, Fire Department and hes met all provisions of Act No. 491 of 1921 of the General Assembly of Arkansas and as amended from time to time. The motion was seconded by Mr. Morrison and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Morris, Caselman, and Morrison. • "Nay" None. Abstaining,Johnson. Mr. Johnson later changed his decision and voted, "Aye". There being five "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared the motion passed. 2 Mr. Skelton then moved that the eligibility of Mr. Ellis Poore, who • has completed 20 years service with the Fayetteville, Arkansas, Fire Department as of December 1, 1961, and has met all the provisions of Act No. 491 of 1921 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Arkansas, be accepted for retirement at any time he wishes to retire after December 1, 1961. The motion wasseconded by Mr. Morris and passed unanimously. Mr. Skelton then moved that the eligibility of Mr. William Morris and Mr. Jess Tune, who have completed 20 years service with the Fayetteville, Arkansas, Fire Department as of April 2, 1961, (Bill Morris) and February 270 1961(Jess Tune) respectively, and have met all the provisions of Act.No. 491 of 1921 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Arkansas, be accepted for retirement at any time hereafter they wish to retire and that Twenty Year Certificates be issued to Mr. Frank Johnson, Mr. Ellis Poore, Mr, Bill Morris& and Mr. Jess Tune. The motion was seconded by Mr.Caselman and passed by acclamation, Fire Chief Skelton reported that one of his full time paid firemen, Bill Stowers, had resigned as of November 30, 1961, and that he was eligible to receive the amount he had contributed to the Pension & Relief Fund. Mr. Morrison then moved that Mr. Bill Stowers be recompensed the amount he had contributed to the Firemen's Pension & Relief Fund And that the Secretary 1$ hereby authorized to make the payment when Mr. Stowers makes the application. The motion was seconded by Mr. Morris and upon roll call the following • vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Johnson, Morris, Caselman, and Morrison. "Nay" None. There being five "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared the motion passed. There being no further business, Mr. Morris moved to adjourn.
