HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-11-06 MinutesE • 0 MINUTES OF THE FIREMEN'S PENSION & RELIEF FUND BOARD OF TRUSTEES The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was held in the Uity Clerk's Office on Monday, November 6, 1961s at 4:45 P. M. Present: Chairman Mayor Guy E. Brown, Secretary George J. Davis, Fire Chief Burl Skelton, and Board Members: Frank Johnson, Bill Morris, Arthur Caselman, and Doyle Morrison. Absent: Treasurer Roy Nix. The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, October 2, 1961, were read and approved. The Secretary presented the authorization form to pay the October pensions. Mr. Skelton moved the disbursements be allowed. The motion was seconded by Mr. Johnson and upon roll call the following Vote was'recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Johnson, Morris, Caselman, and Morrison. "Nay" None. There being five "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared the motion passed. Fire Chief Burl Skelton reported that Fireman Frank Johnson had been working continuously with the Fayetteville Fire Department since June 1°, 1943, or'a total of Eighteen Years and Five Months up to November 1, 1961. Chief`Skelton further reported that Fireman Johnson had worked with the Gravette Arkans ire"Department previous to that ti from April 10, 19399 t % 1, 1941, or a total of One Year,..Months, and Twenty Days with the Fire Department of Gravette,Arkansag (zi~.-P0Ad00 Therefore Mr. Johnson had served a total length of time with the two Fire Departments of over twenty years and was eligible for retirement provided the Fayetteville Pension Board would accept his time spent with the Gravette Fire Department as part of his eligibility retirement time. After a brief discussion, the Board requested Mr. Johnson to present a certified statement from the City of Gravette, Arkansas, showing the exact time he spent with their Fire Department, and proper action would then be taken at the next regular meeting. There being no further business, Mr. Morrison moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Mr. Caselman and passed unanimously, whereupon the Chairman dedlared the meeting adjourned.
