THE FIREMEN'S PENSION & RELIEF FUND
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension
& Relief Fund of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was held in the City Clerk's
ffice on Monday, August 7, 1961, at 4:45 P.M.
resent: Fire Chief Burl Skelton, Secretary George J. Davis, and
Board Members: Frank Johnson, Bill Morris, and Arthur Caselman.
Absent: Chairman Mayor Guy E. Brown, Treasurer Roy Nix, and Board
Member Doyle Morrison.
In the absence of Chairman Mayor Guy E. Brown, Fire Chief Burl Skelton
acted as Chairman Pro Tem.
Chairman Pro Tem Skelton reported that the terms of Board Members
Bill Morris and Ellis. Poore had expired and that Mr. Morris had been
reelected for two years and that Mr. Frank Johnson had been elected to
the vacancy of Ellis Poore for a term of two years.
The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, July 3, 1961, were read
and approved.
The Secretgry presented the authorization form to pay the July Pensions,
Mr. Morris moved the disbursements be allowed. The motion was seconded
by Mr. Caselmsn and upon roll call the following vote was recorded:
"Aye" Skelton, Johnson, Morris, and Caselman. "Nay" None.
There being four "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman Pro Tem declared
the motion passed.
• The,Secretary reported that he had received a check from the Arkansas
State Insurance Commission for the sum of $8,173.97 and he recommended
that $7,500.00 of this be invested as there was that amount in the
checking fund available which would not be needed for payment of
pensions until further funds were available.
He further reported that he had a letter and financial statement from
the First Federal Savings & Loan Association, Ft. Smith, Arkansas,
which stated they paid 4% Interest which is the same as other
Savings & Loan Companies and guaranteed by Federal Insurance.
After a brief discussion, Mr. Morris moved that the Secretary,be and
he is hereby authorized and directed to invest the amount of $7,500.00
in Savings Sc Loan Stock with the First Federal Savings & Loan Assn,
Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Caselman and upon roll call the following
vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Johnson, Morris, and Caselman.
"Nay" None. There being four "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman Pro T4*m
declared the motion passed.
There being no further business, Mr. Morris moved to adjourn.
The motion wasseconded by Mr. Johnson and gassed unanimously, whereupon
the Chairman Pro Tem declared the meeting adjourned.
