FIREMEN'S RELIEF & PENSION FUND
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
• The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Relief
and Pension Fund was held in the Mayor's Office on Monday, August 4,
19582 at 4:45 P. M'.
Present: Chairman Mayor J. Austin Parish, Secretary George J. Davis,
Treasurer Roy Nix, Fire Chief Burl Skelton, and Board Illembers: Ellis
Poore, Arthur Caselman, Bill Morris, and Doyle Morrison.
Absent: None.
The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, July 7, 1958, were read
and approved.
The Secretary presented the authorization form to pay the July Pensions.
Mr. Morris moved that the disbursements be allowed.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Morrison and upon roll call the following
vote was recorded: "Aye" Skelton, Poore, Caselman, Morris, and Morrison.
"Nay" None. There being five "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared
the motion passed.
The Secretary reported that he had received a check for $7,543.26 from
the Arkansas State Insurance Commission for the Firemen's Relief &
Pension Hand.
After a brief discussion, ivlr. Skelton moved that the Secretary be and
he is hereby authorized to invest $7,000.00 in Fayetteville Building &
Loan Stock. The motion was seconded by Mr. Poore and upon roll call the
following vote was recorded, "Aye" Skelton, Poore, Caselman, Morris, and
• Morrison. "Nay" None. There being five "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chair-
man declared the motion passed.

The Secretary also reported that he had deposited a'cheg hich had been
made out by error to the Firemen's Relief & Pension bund and which should
have been made to the Fire & Hospital Bond Fund and asked authority to
refund this to the Fire & Hospital Bond Fund,
Mr. Skelton moved that the Secretary be and he is hereby authorized to
refund the $207.00 to the Fire & Hospital Bond Fund.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Poore and upon roll call the following
vote was recorded, "Aye"' Skelton, Poore, Caselman, Morris, and Morrison.
"Nay" None. There being five "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Chairman declared
the motion passed.
Mr. Doyle Morrison made a report on the information which he was appointed
to obtain from 1°1r. William C. Morton Jr. as to the amount of securities
the Pension & Relief Fund should have at the present time and the amount
that should be deposited or invested each year in the Fund to guarantee
protection under present liabilities.
During a brief discussion, it was pointed out that the securities at the
present time were only about half the amount needed and that with the
insurance check and the proposed revenue from 2 mill, we would only
receive about 2 the amount which should be invested each year after all
liabilities were deducted.
Mr. Poore then moved that the Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer prepare
• a statement and present to the City Council requesting that 2 mill of
the "Up to 1 mill" levied taxation be given to the Firemen's Relief &
Pension Fund as voted by the people in the City's General Election in
November, 1957.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Cas-elman and passed unanimously.

There being no further business, Mr. Caselman moved to adjourn.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Skelton and passed unanimously, whereupon
the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned.
