MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF CONSTRUCTION APPEALS
A meeting of the Board of Construction Appeals was held July 30,
1992 at the City Administration Building, Room 111.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Neal Albright, Lonnie Meadows, Jim Hill, Fred
Sherman and Mike Parsley.
OTHERS PRESENT: Bill Roe, representing Spartan 8 Motel; Freeman,
Inspection Superintendent; Mickey Jackson, Fire Chief; and Rosilee
Mugley, Senior Inspection Clerk.
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by committee chairman,
Neal Albright.
A variance request to reduce the number of draft stops from two per
unit to two per two units was submitted by the Spartan 8
partnership.
The Spartan 8 Motel will be three (3) stories and will have a
sprinkler system.
Mickey Jackson stated he would have no objection because a
sprinkler system will better control the spread of fire than the
draft stops.
After some discussion Jim Hill made the motion to grant the
variance. Fred Sherman seconded the motion. A vote was taken and
it was passed unanimously to approve the variance.
The meeting adjourned at 4:07 p.m.

IF WE HAVE TWO PER TWO UNITS, IT WILL ALLOW US TO VENTILATE THE AREA MORE
EFFECTIVELY. ALSO, IT WOULD BE LESS EXPENSIVE, WHICH WOULD BE A GREAT HELP TO US.
INTERPRETATION OF BUILDING OFFICIAL APPEALED. FROM:
DRAFT STOPS ARE REQUIRED FOR EVERY UNIT.
REASONS DECISION OF BUILDING OFFICIAL SHOULD BE MODIFIED OR REVERSED:
CHECK UNDER REASONS FOR REQUESTING VARIANCE.
