OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
July 18, 2005
A meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held on July 18 at 8:30 AM at the
Fayetteville Police Department
Present: Commissioners Coppinger, Bittle, Ledford, Hart and Brown
Absent: Commissioners Adelman and Augustine
The purpose of the meeting was to review a request from the Fayetteville Policy
department to allow for a change in the scheduled testing dates and to review
their request for waiver of the rules on rehiring Shawn Hobbs.
Commissioner Bittle Maade a motion to change the scheduled entry level testing
dates to January and June rather than March and October — subject to the
approval of the City Attorney based on his opinion of the legalities involved.
Commission Ledford seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Commissioner Brown made a motion to grant the waiver of the rules as
requested by the Police Department and allow the rehire of Shawn Hobbs.
Hobbs would be allowed to be immediately rehired and the rules regarding the
rehire of former employees as stated in the Civil Service Rules and Regulations
were waived. This was again subject to review by the City Attorney's office.
Commissioner Bittle seconded the motion and the motion carried 4-1 in favor.

Commissioner Brown made a motion to adjourn to executive session to conduct
entry level interviews for the Police Department. Commissioner Battle seconded
and the motion carried.
