A special meeting of the Fayetteville City Board of Directors was 207.
held on Monday, July 13, 1987 at 5:00 p.m. in Room 326 of City
Hall at 113 West Mountain Street, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
PRESENT: Mayor Johnson; Directors Hess, Bumpass, Lancaster, 207.2
Martin, Kelley and Marinoni; Acting City Manager
Linebaugh, City Attorney McCord, City Clerk
Kennedy; members of the press and audience
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, with seven
Directors present, at 5:20 p.m.
The Mayor explained the purpose of the meeting is to look at the
City Manager applications.
Director Martin moved the Board go into executive session to
consider applications for employment of a City Manager. The
motion was seconded by Bumpass.
Director Martin asked the City Attorney if that was an 207.6
appropriate motion. City Attorney McCord said it was permissible 111under the Freedom of Information Act. He reminded the Board that
if, during the executive session, a motion is adopted to
interview one or more applicants, that motion needs to be made,
seconded and voted upon in a public meeting.
The Mayor asked the City Attorney if the Board picks out some 207.7
names, does not decide that these are the exact people they are
going to interview but decides they need further investigation,
could the meeting adjourn with no recommendation. The City
Attorney said if no final action is taken to interview any
particular individual but if the Board just narrows the list of
potential interviewees, no formal public action is required.
Upon roll call, the motion passed, 7-0. 207.8
The Board met in executive session from 5:25 p.m. until 7:45 207.9
p.m., at which time the meeting reconvened to adjourn at 7:45
p.m.
