HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-06-10 MinutesMINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS JUNE 10, 1971 The Board of Directors of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, met in adjourned session on Thursday, June 10, 1971, in the Directors' Room in the City Admini- stration Building at 12:00 Noon. Present: City Manager Wesley M. Howe, Acting City Clerk Virginia Throckmorton, City Attorney David Malone and Directors Orton, McFerran, Starr and Stanton. Absent: City Clerk LoVetta Moore and Directors Purdy, Lancaster and Utley. Others Present: M. V. Parker, Jr., Mrs. Lodene Deffebaugh, Ralph Hayes and others of the East Fayetteville Citizens Committee. The Mayor asked that Virginia Throckmorton be appointed Acting City Clerk to 1-223 exercise all of the duties of City Clerk in the absence of the City Clerk, LoVetta Moore. Upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye", Orton, McFerran, Starr and Stanton. "Nay", None. There being four "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Mayor declared Mrs. Throckmorton Acting City Clerk, The City Attorney read a resolution entitled A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND PROVID- 2-223 ING FOR EXECUTION OF A PROPOSED INTERIM ASSISTANCE CONTRACT NO. ARK -I -S (G) BETWEEN THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The Mayor asked for comments from the Board and those in attendance. Mrs. Lodene Deffebaugh read the following statement: "Mr. Howe and Members of Board: On behalf of the citizens of the East Fayetteville Citizens Committee, the Com - mi ttee om- mittee wishes to inform you that the Interim Assistance grant was accepted as of Tuesday night, June S, 1971. With legal and professional advice and discus- sion it was agreed that this grant was a start in a progressive direction for our community. Thank you, Lodene Deffebaugh, Chairman of East Fayetteville Citizens Committee". A motion was made by Director McFerran that the Resolution be adopted. The motion was seconded by Director Orton and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye", Orton, McFerran, Starr and Stanton. "Nay", None. There being four "Ayes" and no "Nays" the Mayor declareed the Resolution passed. *Resolution No. 45-71 is on page 104 of Ordinance and Resolution Book 2. There being no further business the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned. ATTEST: 223
