HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-06-16 Minutes1 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEE'T'ING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS June 16, 1969 The Board of Directors of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, met in regular session on Monday, June 16, 1969 in the Directors Room in the City Administra- tion Building at 7:30 P.M. Present: City Manager Wesley M. Howe, Citn Clerk Marilyn Moore, City Attorney Richard Wells, and Directors Jones, Swartz, McFerran, Melton, Lancaster, Starr, and Dunn. Absent: None. Representatives of the press were present. The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, June 2, 1969, a copy of which had previously been mailed to each of the Directors, were approved as written. The Cite Manager presented a request by Mr. Vernon Wilson for consideration of 1-23 rezoning property at the Northwest corner of the intersection of Garland. Avenue and Wedington Drive from R -1B, Single Family Residential District to C-1, Neighborhood Commercial District. The petition to rezone this nropert7r was filed in the Office of City Planning on June 14, 1966. After a long discussion, Director McFerran moved to return this request for rezoning to the Planning Commission for restudy in accordance with the Land Use Plan and with instructions that it be brought up at the earliest possible date at which time the neighborhood people can present their opinions on the rezon- ing. The motion was seconded by Director Swartz, and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Jones, Swartz, McFerran, Melton, and Dunn. "Nay" Lancaster and Starr. There being five "Ayes" and only two "Nays", the Mayor declared the motion passed. The City Manager presented the petition of Mr. Otto Gage appealing the Planning 2-23 Commission rejection of his request to rezone certain property located on Rock Street East of Water Avenue from R-31 Multi -Family Residential District to C-2, Thoroughfare Commercial District. The Staff report recommended the appeal he denied. After a discussion, Director Swartz moved that the Staff report be accepted -and the appeal be denied. The motion was seconded by Director Lancaster, and upon roll.call the following vote was recorded: "Ave" Jones, Swartz, McFerran, Melton, Lancaster, Starr, and Dunn. "Nay" none. There being seven "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Mayor declared the motion passed. The City Attorney introduced, and at the request of the Mayor, read a pro- 3-23 posed resolution in its entirety entitled, "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIR- ECTING THE CONDEMNATION OF EASEMENTS IN CERTAIN IAANDS IN WASHINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, FOR USE IN CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF AN 8 -INCH GRAVITY SEWER MAIN AND A 12 -INCH GRAVITY SEWER MAIN, WPC -ARK 216, AND APPUR- TENANCES THERETO." Director Lancaster moved that the Resolution be adopted. The motion was seconded by Director McFerran, and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Jones, Swartz, McFerran, Pi'.elton, Lancaster, Starr, and, Qonn`., % "Nay" none.
