The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, �anuary 15, 1968, and of the special meeting on Monday, January 29, 1968, copies of which had previously been furnished to each of the Directors, were approved as written. The City Manager presented the petition of Jerry D. Sweetser to rezone certain real estate locat6d on Leverett Avenue from R-3 Multi -Family Residential District to C-1 Neighborhood Commercial District, which Ordinance No. 1585 had been approved by the Planning Commission, The City Attorney then introduced and, at the request of the Mayor, read a proposed ordinance in its Rezoning Jerry I entirety for the first time entitled,"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1239, AND REVISED Sweetser Property. ZONING DISTRICT MAP OF FAYETTEVILLE,ARKANSAS, APPROVED MAY 282 19622 TO REZONE CERTAIN REAL ESTATE FROM R-3, MULTI -FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT, TO C-1, NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL DISTRICT". Director Christie moved that the rule be suspended and that the Ordinance be placed on the second reading The motion was seconded by Director Melton and passed.unanimously. The Ordinance was then read for the second time. ' The Mayor then declared the Ordinance open for discussion. After a brief discussion, Director Christie moved that the rule be'further suspended and the Ordinance'be placed on the third and final reading, The motion was seconded by Director Kerlin and passed unanimously. The Ordinance was then read for the third and last time. After another'brief discussion, the Mayor.asked the question, "Shall the Ordinance pass?" Upon roll call the following vote was recorded, "Aye" Kerlin, Melton, Christie, and Trumbo. "Nay" Swartz and McFerran. There being Four "Ayes" and only Two "Nays!' and only one absent and not voting, the Mayor declared the Ordinance passed. Planning Consultant (James Vizzier) City Manager reported that, under authority granted by the Board of Directors at Its regular meeting on January 2, 1968, bids had been received and tabulated for the expansion of the City Shop Building and he recommended the acceptance of the low bid by G. W. Shirley`onstcurtinnCo. for $20,461.00 less the Authorized alternate bid (air conditioning) fof $2,407.00 or a net bid of $18,110.00. Contract to Director McFerran moved to accept the recommendation of the City Manager and award the contract to the expand City Shop G. W. Shirley Construction Co. with alternate bid, at a total cost of $18,110.00 and that the Mayor and Citv Clerk be and they are hereby authorized to exeutte the contract upon the approval of the contract -by the City Attorney and The City Engineer, the approval of the Cost and Ber£ormance Bond by the City Engineet, and evidence of proper insurance.
