Mr. Gerald G. Toa
City Manager
Fayetteville, Arkansas
Dear Mr. Fox:
Attached are drafts of proposed changes in the charges for water and sewer connections. A copy of the
charge schedule we are now operating under is also attached. Since the present schedule was adopted in
January, 1952s prices of materials have adcanced 35 to a00 per cent and labor has advanced at least 30
per cent.
Briefly the increases per connection are increased approximately $10 each and the pavement cuts and repai
are increased to more nearly equal the costs for the work.
I have included some special conditions which have developed since.the•'present schedule was adopted. In
some of these it will reduce the charges.
These fixed charges when originally, established• were set.,up at)".the••request iof+ plu*bersl in corder that they
would know the charges is making.lbids.; n i + i :. (i :• , *:, I t C.,, , :+t r.. c t :. i
r r i .., ., ii r.Pi _,.i.I ...
If these schedules are approved, it must be kept in mind that more than likely they will -%.remain in effect
for possibly ten years, during which period we can expect increases in labor and materials which will hav
to be absorbed.
Respectfully submitted,
/s/ W.C. Smith
