in the Council Room of the City Administration Building.
Presentt Mayor Guy E. Brown, City Clerk George J. Davis, City Controller Albert J. Jones, City Attorney
Hugh Kincaid, City Engineer W. C. Smith, Chief of Police Hollis Spencer, Fire Chief Burl Skelton and
Aldermen: Heflin, Christie, Watson, Bone, Thomas, Burgin, Faucette, and Short.
Absent: None.
The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, December 20, 1965, and of the special session on Wednesday,
dinance December 29, 1965, copies of which had previously been mailed to each of the Aldermen, were approved as
. 1477 written.
The City Planner presented the petition of Herbert Lewis,Jr., and P. F. Hohnson and Betty 0. Johnson fo
the rezoning of property on the west side of U. S. Highway No. 71 North from R -1B Single Family Resident
District to C-2 Thoroughfare Commercial District, which had been recommended by the Planning Commission.
After a brief discussion, the City Attorney introduced and, at the request of the Council, read a propos
ordinance in its entirety entitled,"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1239, AND REVISED ZONING
DISTRICT MAP OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, APPROVED MAY 280 1962, TO REZONE CERTAIN REAL ESTATE FROM R -1B
SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT TO C-2 THOROUGHFARE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT".
Alderman Thomas moved that the Ordinance -be passed. The motion was seconded by Alderman Bone and passed
unanimously, whereupon the Mayor declared the Ordinance passed.
ORDINANCE N0. 1477
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE N0. 1239, AND REVISED ZONING DISTRICT MAP OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANS
APPROVED RAY 282 1962, TO REZONE CERTAIN REAL ESTATE FROM R -1B SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT TO C-2
THOROUGHFARE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held before the PAanning Commission of the City of Fayetteville, Arks
on December 21, 196`x, on the petition of Lewis Ford Sales, Inc., P. F. Johnson and Betty Johnson, reques
that said Planning Commission recommend to the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, that
the City Council enact an ordinance rezoning that portion of the following described property, presently
zoned R -1B Single Family Residential District, to C-2 Thoroughfare Commerical District, to -wit:
From the centerline of U. S. Highway 71, the west 660 feet of the following desckkbed
tract: Part of the SW j of the SE t of Section 26 in Towhship 17 North, Range 30 W
West, described as beginning at the NW corner of said 40 acre tract, and running
thence East 795 feet; thence South 165 feet; thence East 525 feet; thence South 300
feet; thence West 525 feet; thence North 45 feet; thence Westh420 feet; thence South
210 feet; thence West 375 feet; thence North 630 feet to the p81nt of beginning,
containing 13 Acres, more or less; and
WHEREAS, notice of said public hearing, setting forth the date, time, place and purpose of hearing,
and location of the property was published in the Northwest Arkansas Times, a newspaper of general C
circulation in said City, more than 15 days prior to said public hearing, and
WHEREAS, following said public hearing said Planning Commission certified.to the City Council of t',
City of Fayetteville, Arkandae, its recommendatin that an ordinance be adopted rezoning that portion of
the above-described property, presently zoned R -JB Single Family Residential District, to C-2 Thoroughf
Commercial District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:

Deed Alderman Burgin moved that the City Clerk be and he is -hereby authorized to excute a release deed for a
Davis. Subdivdder's Contract with Byyce Davisonn the following described property, to -wit:
Lots 4,5,6,9 and 8 of Block 3; Lots 1,30 and 4 of Block 4; in Rolloing Hills
Addition to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, as per plat of said Addition
on file in the office of the circuit Clerk and FacXfficio Recorder of Washington
County, Arkansas. •

AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE NAME OF A STREET IN THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS; -AS "JANE AVENUE".
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 1475, dated December 29, 1965, the Ciyp Council of the `'ity of Fay
Arkandas, accepted the dedication of certain lands in the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the
of public street, said lands being described as follows:
A part of the Fractional East one -held (Frl. E D of the Northwest Quarter (NW i) of
Section 3, Township 16 North of Range 30•West and being more particularly described
as follows: Beginning at a point which is 236.8 feet East and 20 feet &2outh of the
Northwest corner of the above mentioned eighty (NW Cor. Frl. E j NW �); thence East
30.8 feet; thence South 155 feet; thence West 30.8 feet; thence }forth 155 feet to
the point of beginning.

SECTION 1. That the above-described lands heretofore dedicated and accepted as a public street in
the City of Fayetteville,be and the same hereby are named "Jane Avenue".
SECTION 2. That thishordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and publication. -

Alderman Burgin moved to accept the recommendation of the Mayor and make the appointments to the Planning
Commission as listed above.
