HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-11-01 MinutesThe City Council of Fayetteville, Arkansas,.meet in special session at the Downtown Motor Lodge on Monday,November 1, 1965, at 12:00 Noon CST, Present: Mayor Guy E. Brown, City Controller, Albert J. Jones, City Attorney, Hugh Kincaid, and Alderman Heflin, Watson, Bone, Thomas, Burgin, Faucette, and Short. Absent: City C1erk,George J. Davis, and Alderman Arnold Christie. The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss a contract relative to the Commuhity Renewal Program, along with other business and that all members of the Council had been notifidd by U. S. Mail and by Telephone but Alderman Christie was unable to attend but had waved notice of the meeting. WAIVER OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY COUNCIL Comes now the undersigned, being a duly elected, qualified, and acting member of the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and specifically waives notice of a special meeting of theFn;Nc:e Fayetteville City Council to be held in the City Council Room of the City Administration Building, Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 12:00 o'clock Noon, on November 1, 1965. Dated this 1st day of November, 1965• Alderman, Ward 1 A long discussion was had concerning a contract relative to theCeemmunity Renewal Program, with James. Bizzier, City Planner. The City Attorney introduced and read a proposed resolution authorizing the contract. Alderman Burgin moved that the Resolution be adopted. The motion was seconded by Alderman Faucette and passed unanimously, whereupon the Mayor declared the Resolution adopted. Resolution 1745 RESOLUTION APPROVING AND PROVIDING FOR EXECUTION OF PROPOSED CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICLL SERVICES FOR COMMUNITY RENEWAL. PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas on August 24, 1965, received.appEoval of a Community Renewal Program Grant and Community Renewal Program Budget, under Title I of the ousing Act of 1949, as amenddd,from the United States.of America, and thereupon authorized J. A. Vizzier, Planning Consultant, to commence work on the program for which the Grant was approved, the same being as contained in the Cit; application for said Grant and. WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville, Arkandas on September 27,'19651 entered into a contract for said Community ReneQal Progaam Grant with the United States of Aaerica, and has requisitioned and received a proti6n of the ''funds authorized by said Grant. WHEREAS, the Planning Consultant, J. A. Vizzier has accomplished a substantial portion of the senvi called for by Program, and it is now desirable to execute a formal contract for his services, inclGding that portion of his services accomplished to date, and to authorize payment forathe portion of his'servi presently accomplished, and WHEREAS, the City Council has given its due consideration to the terms of said contract andhhas fotnd it Ob be in the best interest of the City to execute same. ,_.NOWt.LT VWORE, BE IT RESOLVED,BY THECC1TYCCOU90ILC9FTREELXITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the proposede"Contract for Professional and Technical Services for Community Rene Program" between the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and J. A. Vizzier, Planning Consultant, be and the same is hereby approved in all respects. SECTION 2. That the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute same in five counte and the City Clark is authorized to send copes of same to the Housing and Home Finance Agency. SECTION 9. That upon receipt of a r®quisition for pMent- from the Contractor, J. A. Vizzier, ening Consultant, the City Treasurer is authorized to pay said Contaactor immediately for that.portion his services performed to date in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 4 bfof said Contract.
