CITY CLERK The City Council of Fayetteville , Arkansels met in regular session at•its regular meeting place in the C6uncil Room of the City Administration building on Monday July 19, 1965 at 7:30 P.M. Present: Mayor Guy E. Brown ,City Clerk George 'J.' Davis; City Controller Albert J. Jones, City Attorney Hugh R. Kincaid ,City Engineer W.C-. Smith, Chief of Police Hollis Spencer, and Aldermen Heflin, Christie,'Watson, Bone, Thomas, Burgin, and Faucette. Absent: Alderman Carter Short, Fire Chief Burl Skelton. The minutes of the regular meeting on Tuesday July 6 , 1965, a copy of which had been sent to each of the aldermen were approved as written. Release The City Attorney presented a release Deed for a portion of Elmwood Addition to the City of Fayettev seep for Arkansas, owned by W.P.Watkins. After a brief Discussion, Alderman Burgin m&ved that the City Clerk lmwood be and he is hereby authorized to execute a release deed for: ddn.W.F. Lots 1 and 2 of Plock 4; and lots 4,5,6,7,8, and 9 of Block 2 in Elmwood atkins Addition to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas. The motion was seconded by alderman Christie and passed unanimously. reported The City Attorney xamxded that he had made an error in the writing of Ordinance x%1452 and that it finance would be necessary to enact an ordinance repealing ordinance 9 1452 and making the necessary correcti 1452 The City Attorney then introduced and at the request of the Council, read a proposed ordinance in its entirety entitled,"AN ORDINANCE AMENDIAC ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1239, AND REVISED DISTRICT MAP OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, APPROVED MAY 2811%2", TO REZONE CERTAIN -REAL ESTATE FROM, IQ HEAVY INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT TO C-2 THOROUGHFARE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT: AND TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 1452 OF JULY 6, 1965." i. readies Alderman Heflin 'then moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance placed on the second reading The motion was seconded by alderman Lhwgin and passed unanimously. The ordinance was then read for the second time. The Mayor then declared the ordinance opened for discussion. There being no discussion, Alderman Heflin moved that the rule be further suspended and the ordinance placed on the third and final reading. The motion was seconded by alderman Burgin and passed unanimously. The ordinance was then read for'the thikd and last time. The Mayor then asked a question,"Shall the ordinance pass?" Upon roll call the following vote was recorded, "Aye" Heflin, Christie, Watson, Bone, Thomas, Burgin, Faucette. "Nay" None. There being seven ayes and no nays, the Mayor declared the ordinance passed. WHEREAS,'a public hearing was held before the Planning Commission of the City of Fayettev Arkansas, on June 22, 1965, on the petition of Leo P:Peel requesting that said Planning Commission re mend to the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, that the City Council enact and Ordin rezoning the following described propebty, which is pressntl•y zoned I-2 Heavy Industrial District and R -1B Single Family Residential District, to -wit: Part of the Southwest Quarter (SW �) of'the Southeast Quarter -(SE J-) of Section 21 in Township 16 North,Range 30 West, being more particularly described as follows, to wit: Cont. Alderman Thomas reported that bids had been received and opened for two-way ratios for the on sanitation department, and he recommedded the one by Motorola Communications and Electronics ays at a net cost of for the City of $3,025.29. After a bried discussion, Alderman Thomas. s moved that the City purchase 5 mobile units, one remote control, and other accessor*es, per city specification dated July 1, 1965, from the Motorola Comminications and Electronics, Dallas, Texas,at a total cost of $3,025.29. The motion was seconded by Alderman Watson and passed unanimously. The motion was seconded by Alderman Thomas and passed unanimously. There being no further business Alderman Heflin moved to adjourn.
