Session P.M. in the Council Room of the City Administration Building. (The meeting was postponed from Monday
night, because of bad weather.)
Present: Mayor Guy E. Brown, City Clerk George J. Davis, City Controller Albert J. Jones, City Attorney
Bass Trumbo, City Engineer W.C. Smith, Chief of"Police Hollis Spencer, Fire'Chief Burl Skelton and Alder-
men: Heflin, Christie, Watson, Wheeler, Thomas, Burgin, Faucette and Short.
Absent: None
The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, February 24, 1964, a copy which had previously been mailed
to each of the Aldermen, were approved as written.
Purchase JAlderman Heflin reported that bids had been received and opened for two Refuse Collecting Bodies for the
2 truck- Sanitation Department, and that he moved to accept the bid of•Moody Equipment and Supply Company, Little
beds for Rock, Arkansas, and forchaseotw63tn&20od1eh.at a cost of >3,932.25 each, or a total cost of $79864.50.
Sanitation The motion was seconded by Alderman Thomas and passed unanimously.

Purchase Al derman•Christie reported that bids had been received and opened for a dump bed truck for the Street
Dump bed Department and that he recommended the purchase of the Ford from the Lewis Ford Sales Inc. because it

Alderman Christie then moved to purchase one New Truck Chassis and Cab from the Lewis Ford Sales Inc.
Fayetteville, Arkansas, at a total cost of $2,950.50 less a trade-in of $100.50 making a net cost of
$2,850.00.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Burgin and passed unanimously.

Authorize Contract Alderman Thomas reported that in order•to construct the new Geriatrics Improvement at the City Hospital
City Hall that would be necessary for the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a.contract.
After a long discussion, Alderman Thomas moved that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute a
contract with the Shirley Construction Company, Fayetteville, Arkansas for the construction of the new
Geriatrics Improvement at the City Hospital subject to approval of the City Attorney, City Controller
and the Mayor.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Burgin but before a vote was taken, Alderman Thomas with the consent
of Alderman Burgin withdrew the motion and no further action was taken at this time.
Issue Building The Building Inspector reported that the Fayetteville School District # 1 was p1Anr4ngmtoresmdd"eingo=i o:
Permit School Dist. some of the School buildings but under the present zoning ordinance,he could not issue'a building permit
free of charge and in order to do so, it was required that they appeal to the Board of Adjustment.
After a long discussion, Alderman Wheeler moved that the Building Inspector be directed to issue a
building permit to Fayetteville School District N1 for the proposed improvement.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Burgin and upon roll call, the following vote was recorded: "Aye",
Heflin, Christie, Watson, Wheeler, Burgin, Faucette and Short. "Nay" Thomas. There b&#g seven "Ayes"
and only one "Nay", the Mayor declared the motion passed.
Alderman Bur -gin then moved to adopt a resolution authorizing the Planning Commission to hold a public
hearing for the purpose of amending the Zoning Ordinances.
The Motion was seconded bjr Alderman Wheeler and passed unanimously, whereupon the Mayor declared the
Resolution adopted.

There being no further business, Alderman Faucette moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Alderman
Watson and passed unanimously, whereupon the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.

12:00 Noon at the Mountain Inn Motor Lodge.
Present: Mayor Guy E. Brown, City Clerk George J. Davis, City Controller Albert J. Jones, City Attorney
Bass Trumbo, and Aldermen:Heflin, Christie, Watson, Wheeler, Thomas, Burgin, Faucette, and Short.
Absent: None,
The Mayor reported that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss a proposed contract for the construct
of the new Geriatrics Unit and the City Hospital of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and that all members of the
Council had been notified at the regular meeting.of the Council on Wednesday, March 11, 1964, and by
telemhone.
Members of the Hospital Board present were Alsey Holland, Judge V. James Ptak, Roy Scott, Kenneth
Roy Edwards, Herbert Lewis, and Ed Froning.
After a long discussion, Alderman Wheeler moved that the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are hereby
authorized and directed to execute a contract with Shirley Construction Co., Fayetteville, Arkansas, for
the NEW GERIATRICS UNIT in connection with the CITY HOSPITAL,n'FAYETTEVILL&, ARKANSAS, for the contract
price of Three Hundred Eleven Thousand Two Hundred Twenty -Seven ($311,227.00) Dollars.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Short and passed unanimously.
here being no further business, Alderman Wheeler moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Alderman

residential district. After a brief discussion, the City Attorney introduced and at the request of the
council read a proposed ordinance in its entirety entibled, "API ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO,
1239 AND REVISED ZONING DISTRICT MAP OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, APPROVED MAY 28, 1962, TO REZONE CERTAIN
REAL ESTATE FROM I -1A LIGHT INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT TO R-3 MULTI -FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT.
Alderman Burgin moved that the ordinance passed'. The motion was seconded by Alderman. Heflin and passed
