Jones, City Attorney Bass Trumbo and Aldermen: Heflin, Christie, Watson, Wheeler, Thomas, Burgin, Faucette and Short. h Absent: None t i pose The Mayor reported that the purpose of the meeting was to study the budget for the year 1964 and that all Of members of the Council had been notified by U.S. Mail and by telephone. ting A very long discussion was held on the proposed budget for 1964 which had been presented by the City Cont- roller, but no definite action was taken at this time. 1. There being no further business, Alderman Short moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Alderman Heflin and passed unanimously, thereupon the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned. Present: Mayor Guy E. Brown, City Clerk George J. Davis, City Controller Albert J. Jones, City Attorney Bass Trumbo, City Engineer W.C. Smith, Chief of Police Hollis Spencer, Fire Chief Burl, Skelton, and Ald- ermen: Heflin, Christie, Watson, Wheeler, Thomas, Burgin, Faucette and Short. Absent: None The Minutes of the Regullr meeting December 9, 1963 and of the Special meeting December 20, 1963, a copy n, of which has previously been mailed to ea(:h of the Aldermen were approved as tirritteh. nc Several car deAlers appeared before the Couhcil in opposition to the prorosed ordinance requiring car dealers to register the car sales with the Police Department said ordinance having been left on the fi e reading at the last regular meeting of the gouncil on Monday December 9th 1963. t;After a long discussion, Alderman Burgin efer this ordinance to a committee to be appointed by the Mayor to meet with a committee of the car dealers forsStiidy and recommendation. The motion was seconded by Alderman Thomas and passed unanimously. The Mayor appointed the Police Committee to represent the City. Proposed Mr. O.T. Williams Jr., appeared before the Council 4d%ththttorney Walter Niblock, sppbehal!fvof the Wallen Water Mountain Water Association and presented a proposed contract between the City of Fayetteville and the Contract Wallen Mountain Water Association which would extend the water mains southeast from Greenland to the �0 Wallen Mountain area. A After a long discussion, Alderman Wheeler moved that inasmuch as the Council had bebn notified of the ox existance of the Wallen Mountain Water Association and that said association had been planning to extend water mains southeast from Greenland for several months• prior the Council's passage of a Water Departmen• Rules and Regulations on October 28, 1963, that in accordance with paragraph 1(c) the City Council aggro the construction of the proposed water mains in accordance with plans submitted, providing the condition meet with the approval of Attorneys Mehaffey, Smith,, Williams, Friday and -Bowens of Little Rock, the Cit; Attorney and the City Water Superintendent. The motion was seconded by Alderman Thomas and passed unanimously . ds for 2 Alderman Wheeler reported that bids had been received and opened on two tractors loader diggers for the Loader- Waiter and Sewer Department with the trade-in of the two old loader diggers now in use. He reported that Diggers the bidsof International Sales and Service Company, Springdale, Arkansas on International Tractor #3414 r1 ro was the ionetrecommended by the Water superintendent as it morenearly met the requirements needed by the Water and Sewer Department, the total cost of the two loader digpers was $13,155.50 less a trade-in of $6,200 for the old loader diggers making a net cost to the City of $6,955.50. After a brief discussion, Alderman Thomas moved to accept the recommendation of die Water Superintendent and purchase two International Loader. Diggers #3414 for the total sum of $13,155.50 less the trade-in of $6,200 or a net cost to the City of $6,955.50. The motion was seconded by Alderman Watson and passed unanimously.
