Cross Chief, Operations Division Dear Mr. Cross: The Fayetteville City Council net in special session at noon, Thursday, December 5, to discuss the possibility of the City operating and maintaining a public use area on Beaver Lake. {, After a report from Mr. Masters, engineer for the Corps of Engineers from Little Rock, outlin#ng the expense that the City of Fayetteville would incur in building and maintaining the proposed Hickory, Creek Area, a motion was made by G.C. Thomas and seconded by Carter Short that since the Federal Govern- ment will build, Maintain and operate this area, it would not be advantageous for the City to go to the expense of assuming the responsibility of a boat dock and public use area for the direct benefit of the City of Fayetteville. When the Council passed the resolution in 1960 for a chance to particirate in the recreational area of the Beaver Dam Lake, Hickory Creek area was to be a public use andaboat dock area. Since the map has been drawn, the above has been changed to read "public use area". We submit a request that this Hickory Creek recreational facility be designated as "public use and boat dock area". f' Yours very truly, (s) Guy E.
