HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-01-11 Minutes1�8 The City Council of Fayetteville, Arkansas, met in special session on Friday, January 11, 1963, at 2:00 in the Council Room in the City Administration Building. Present: f�layor Guy E. Brown, City Clerk George J. Davis, City Controller Albert J. Jones, City Attorney Bass Trumbo, City Engineer W. C. Smith, and Aldermen: Arnold Christie, Garland Wheeler, G. C. Thomas, Ellis Burgin, George Faucette, and Carter Short. Absent: Aldermen Laverne Heflin and Ernest Standley. The Mayor reported that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss a sewer line to the Campbell Soup Co. e of which was necessary for their expansion and that all members of the Council had been notified but ng. Alderman Laverne Heflin was on Jury Duty and could not attend and that Alderman Ernest Standley was wor ing in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and was also unable to attend but both had waived notice of the meeting. WAIVER OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY COUNCIL ver of Comes now the undersigned, being a duly elected, qualified, and acting membersof the City Council of e. the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and specifically waives notice of a special meeting of the Fayettevil City Council to be held in the City Council Room of the City Administration Building, Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 2:00 o'clock P.M. CST., on Friday, January 11, 1963. Dated this 11th day of January, 1963• 6,Y Alderman Ward Alderman Ward 2 Alderman Wheeler introduced and read a proposed resolution providing for a sewer line to be run to the Resolution Campbell Soup Co. 1-0, Alderman Wheeler moved that the resolution be adopted. The motion was seconded by Alderman Short and Agsleement passed unanimously, whereupon the Mayor declared the resolution adopted. for Sewer line 6866L6TION 1-63 to Campbell S up Co. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: 1. The City of Fayetteville agrees to run an adequate sewer line to the new building site of Campbell Soup Company, and Campbell Soup Company agrees to install grease traps to eliminate all solids and fats from their sewage. 2. The City of Fayetteville agrees to provide an adequate water supply. 3. That within three years the City agrees to provide access from Fifteenth Street, either to Razor- back Road, Beechwood, or the new Highway 71 Bypass, let on T; _ 'i'Aldei:manepurgin introduced and at the request of the Council read another proposed ordinance second entitled, "API ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY AND BEAVER WATER? AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES, ARKANSAS, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE FORM AND WITH SUBSTANTIALLY THE CONTENTS SET FORT IN AND MADE A PART OF THIS ORDINANCE; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION AND DELIVERY OF SAID CONTRACT; FRESCRIBIN OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO; AIQD DECLARING AN EMERGENCY". Alderman Burgin moved that the rule be suspended and that the ordinance be placed on the second reading. The motion was seconded by Alderman Short and passed unanimously, whereupon the ordinance was read for the second time. No further action was taken at this time and the ordinance was left on the second reading. There being no further business, Alderman Short moved to adjourn. M. McGoodwin. sec1nd The City Attorney then introduced and atthe request of the Council, read a'proposed ordinance in its rea ing. entirety for the first time entitled, "AN ORDINANCE. AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY AND BEAVER WATER DISTRICT OF BENTON AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES, ARKANSAS, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE FORM AND WITH SUBSTANTIALLY THE C014TE14TS SET FORTH IN AND MADE A PART OF THIS ORDINANCE; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION AND DELIVERY OF SAID CONTRACT; PRESCRIBING OTHER 14ATTERS RELATING THERETO; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY"."'
