The City Council of Fayetteville,•Arkansas, met in regular session on Monday, January 2
1961, at 7:30 P.M.
Present: Mayor Guy E. Brown City Clerk George J. Davis, City Controller Albert J. Jone
City Attorney Bass Trumbo, 6ity Engineer W. Co Smith, Chief of Police Pearl Watts, Fire
Chief Burl Skelton, and Aldermen: Short, Smith, Thomas, McClelland, Hatfield, Christie,
and Walker.•Absent: Alderman Burgin.
The minutes of the regular meeting on Monday, January 9, 1961, were read and approved.

on a year to year basis and under terms specified in the License Agreement.

Aderman Hatfield reported that some lights and reflectors on the runway at the Municip
irp¢rt had been damaged and needed some repairs and might need some new ones.
lderman Hatfield then moved that the City Engineer be authorized to investigate the

Purchase Alderman Christie reported that a Mr.Lloyd Thurman had offered to sell to.the City a
of truck used Dodge truck which is in first class condition (having been run approx. 13,000 mile
for for the sum of $3000.00 and the Street Committee had recommended the purchase of this

After a brief discussion, Alderman Walker moved that the Mayor be and he is hereby
authorized to purchase the truck described above for the sum of $3000.00 to be paid out
of the Street Fund.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Short and passed unanimously.

of Alderman Thomas moved to adopt the Budget for 1961 as presented in the book by City
Budget Controller Albert J. Jones subjedt to the provision that all personnel increases and
11961* capital outlay be held in abeyance for additional study.
The motion was seconded by Alderman McClelland and passed unanimously.

Cit Park. After a brief discussion, Alderman Walker moved to accept the recommendation of the
Parks Committee and raze the four north cabins at the City Park and to authorize the
City Attorney to serve notice to all occupants of these cabins to move within 30 days,
from irate ditnotice.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and passed unanimously.

Alderman Hatfield reported that it would be necessary to hold a special session of the
Council on Tuesday, March 71 1961, for the purpose of receiving and opening bids on the
construction of a building at the Municipal Airport.
Paymen to The City Controller reported that the sum of $14,896.87 was due the Cannady Construction
Cannady 0onst. Co., Monett, Missouri, on Estimate No. 7 under terms of their contract on the Airport
Co. of onstruction and he recommended this amount be paid.
$14, 96.87. lderman Hatfield moved to authorise payment to Cannady Construction Co. in the amount
of ;14,896.87 under terms of their Airport Improvement Contract with the City of
Fayetteville.

erformance bond by the City Attorney and evidence of proper insurance.
