Plant which would cost approximately $2,800.00 • near #lderman Hatfield moved that the Mayor be authorized to cause a bridge to be constructed Oberman's across the creek on Garland Avenue near the Oberman Mfg. Co. Plant to cost approximately `2,800.00 to be paid'out of the General Fund. The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously. (Alderman Smith left at this time) Propos d Ordin9nce The City Attorney read the proposed ordinance entitled,"AN.ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE defeated. bF SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS, SHOPS, AND SANITATION, DEFINING HIS DUTIES, AND FOR OTHER tURPOSES" for the third and last time.(This ordinance had been left on its second reading at the last regular session of the Council on May 9, 1960) The Mayor declared the ordinance open for discussion, after a brief discussion, the Mayor asked the question, "Shall the Ordinance pass?" pon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" None. "Nab" Burgin, Lunsford, $ent, and Walker. Abstaining:, Hatfield. �s there were no "Ayes", four "Nays" and one abstaining, the Mayor declared the ordinane defeated for lack of a majority vote. Appoint two The Mayor reported that Messrs Clarence Young and L. M. McGoodwin had resigned from the members to toard of Adjustment effective May 23, 1960, and he recommended that Messrs. John I. Smi Board of l and James A. Pennington be appointed to fill these vacancies. Adjustment. Alderman Kent moved to accept the recommendation of the Mayor and to appoint Messrs. John I. Smith and James A. Pennington to fill the vacancies on the Board of Adjustment created by the resignation of Messrs Clarence Young and L. M. McGoodwin t& be effective ais of this date. The motion was seconded by Alderman Walker and goassed unm imously, here being no further business, Alderman Burgin moved to adjourn. The motion was econded by Alderman Walker and passed unanimously, whereupon the Mayor declared the eating adjourned. McAllister Jr., and Aldermen: Barnhart, Smith, Burgin, Lunsford, McClelland, Kent, and Walker. bsent: Alderman Herbert Hatfield. the Mayor reported that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed'Zoning Purpose of Irdinance,which was a part of the Master Planning Program, and to take appropriate Meeting action on two proposed resolutionw for application for Federal financial assistance for Disaster Relief, and that all members of the Council had been notified by U. S. Mail sand by announcement at the regular council meeting on May 23, 1960, but Alderman �erbert Hatfield was out of the City and could not be present; however Alderman Hatfield had waived notice of the meeting. WAIVER OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF FAYETTEVILLE CITY COUNCIL Comes now the undersigned, being a duly elected, qualified, and acting member of th Pity Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and specifically waives notice of a special meeting of the Fayetteville City Council to be held in the City Council Room of he City Administration Building, Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. on June 6, 1960. Alderman Kent moved that the resolution be adopted. Fhe motion was seconded by Alderman Burgin and passed unanimously, whereupon the Mayor eclared the Resolution adopted. RESOLUTION 8-60 WHEREAS, the Finance Committee of the 6ity Council of the City of Fayetteville, rkansas has recommended that the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas make application to the overnor of the State of Arkansas for certain Federal financial assistance as set out in he United States Public Law No. 875. , THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: .
