Austin Parish, City Clerk George J. Davis, City Controller Albert J. • (Jones, City Attorney A. D. McAllister Jr., City Engineer W. C. Smith, Fire Chief Burl Skelton and Aldermen: Barnhart, Burgin, Lunsford, Williams, Hatfield, and Walker. Absent: Aldermen Dale Kent, and Lynn Smith. The minutes of the regular session on Monday, June 23, 1958, and of the special sessions Ion Monday, June 30, 1958, and on Thiirs4y�uly 3, 1958, were read and approved. The Mayor stated that this was a meeting adjourned on Thursday, July 3, 1958, at vh ich time a motion by Alderman Lunsford, seconded by Alderman Barnhart and which read as Mayor follows,"That the Water and Sewer Committees negotiate a formal contract, subject to voted Council approval, with John Mahaffey and L. M. McGoodwin to perform professional engineer - "Nay" ding services in connection with the proposed Water Distribution System for the 1958 Water, on motion Project"s had resulted with 4 voting for the motion and 4 voting against, it became the of last I'd of the Mayor to cast the deciding vote, whereupon he stated he would like to have m eting. some time to study this question and the Council voted to have an adjourned session on (July 14, 1958, at 7:30 P.M. so that the Mayor would have plenty of time for consideration. The Mayor stated that after a thorough study and consideration that he was ready to cast his vote against the passage of the motion which, of course, defeated'the motion by a Note of 4 votes for and 5 votes against. The purpose of the adjourned meeting having been accomplished, Alderman Walker moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Alderman Burgin and passed unanimously, whereupon the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned. The motion was seconded by Alderman Hatfield and passed unanimously. Signs Ilderman Lunsford reported that the Street Committee had recommended that the new Church for of Christ, located on Lev.erett Avenue, be permitted to place three directional signs at New Church various places within the City limits as recommended by the City Building Inspector. of 'Christ. Alderman Burgin moved to accept the recommendation of the Police Department which was to No Park iprohibit parking on the south side of Dickson Street between North East Avenue and North o I College:Avenue, during the hours of heavy traffic, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P. After a brief discussion, Alderman Burgin moved to refer this to the Committee for study and report* jThe motion was seconded by Alderman Williams and passed unanimously. Drainage A large group of citizens living in the vicinity of Oakland Avenue appeared before the problem Council with a petition requesting that something be done `take care of the water drainag OW in that area. They reported that a great deal of property was being damaged due to the Oakland present conditions existing in that area. Avenue. Aftera long discussion, Alderman Barnhart moved that the Street Committee, City Engineer and City Attorney investigate this and report at the next meeting. The motion was seconded by Alderman Williams and passed unanimously. Bldg. Alderman Lunsford moved that the City Building Inspector be authorized to issue a Buildi 8 Permit Permit to Mr_ uck Savage to erect a new residence provided that Mr. Savage secure and for present to the City acceptable deeds for a thirty (30) foot right of way for a street Buck extending west from North Walnut Avenue. gavage. Sewer Alderman Lunsford moved that the Mayor and City Clerk be and theyeare hereby authorized t'o ' Contract execute a formal contract of employment with Marion L. Crist & Associates, Little Rock, to Arkansas, to perform professional engineering services in connection with construction of Cristo all sewer lines, disposal plant, and lift pumps for the 1958 Water & Sewer Improvement Project. The motion was seconded by Alderman Williams and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye" Barnhart, Burgin, Lunsford, Williams, Hatfield, and Walker. 'INay" None. Enginleer jPhe City Engineer reported that he had investigated the flooded conditions near the recommended intersection of Holly Street and Oakland Avenue and found that the drainage area of the 2 30" the ditch in question is approximately 50 acres and that the natural drainage over the area on 0 land. has never been materially changed. e recommended that the ditch be cleaned of all obstructions and that all culverts on Oakland Avenue have the minimum capacity and size of two 30" culvert tiles. After a brief discussion, the City Clerk read a proposed ordinance entitled,"AN ORDINAN T0'ACCEPT AND CONFIRM THE DEDICATION OF ALL STREETS, ALLEYS AND EASEMENTS IN THE REPLAT IOF LOT 9 IN CRESTWOOD ACRES ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS". Alderman Williams moved that the Ordinance be passed. The motion was, seconded by (Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously,, whereupon the Mayor declared the Ordinance passed. 05DINANCE NO, 1176 Ord. WHEREAS, there is duly filed in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Fayette, ille, Arkansas, a replat of Lot 9 of Crestwood Acres Addition to the City of Fayetteville, rkansas, being ai part of the Northeast Quarter(NE1/4) of the Southeast Quarter (SE 1/.4) f Section 10, T wnship.l6 North of Range 30 West of the 5th Principal Meridian, in whicA eplat the streets, alleys and easements shown thereon have been dedicated for public us s streets, alleys, and easements; and, WHEREAS, said replat was duly approved by the City Planning Commission of the City Fayetteville, Arkansas, on July 28, 1958. Alderman Burgin reported that the new fire truck had arrived and that the Police & Fire (Committee believed that the old truck was worth more than the $500.00 trade -9n value which the Company offered, therefore they recommended that the City pay in full for the new truck, then take bids on the old truck from local towns,if possible, otherwise, (advertise in various papers.
