The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, June 10, 1957, were read and approved.

from a group of citizens, living -in the vicinity of College Avenue and Trenton Street,

great majority of the youth of the City of Fayetteville.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS.
1. That the City Council of the City of"Fayettevill'e, Arkansas, hereby urges the
Alcoholic Control Board of the State of Arkansas to refuse to permit the location of a
liquor store at the corner of College Avenue and Trenton Street in the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Mr. I. D. Miller, of the Civil Aeronautics -Administration, appeared before the Council

The City Clerk then read a petitio from Mr. & Mrsg Kilgore, in'the Parkdale Addition,
requesting that a certain alley be losed in that Addition.

withdrew the petition.

Alderman Williams moved that the ru es be suspended and the Ordinance be placed on the
second reading.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and upon roll call the following vote was
recorded: "Aye" Richardson, Parish „ Lunsford, Williams, Bissett, Bronson, and Alexander.
Nay" None. There being sev&n "Ayes" and no "Nays", the Ordinance was read in its entirety
for the second time.
Alderman Richardson then moved that�the rules be further suspended and the Ordinance
placed on the• third reading.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously.
The OrdinancQ was then read in its entirety for the third and last time. The Mayor then
declared thelOrdinance open for discussion. There being no discussion, the Mayor asked
the question, "Shall the Ordinance pass?"

There being seven "Ayes" and no "Nays'_', the Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed.
Alderman Alexander -then -moved that the emergency clause be adopted. The motion was

Section 1. Gasoline, or any other volatile liquids, shall not'be distributed, or
.elivered n wholesale quantities, to any filling station for storage, or sale or
ransferred from one vehicle to another, between the hours of 8:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M.,
xcept when such distribution or delivery is authorized by a permit issued by the Chief
�f the Fayetteville Fire Department on appropriate application; and the Chief of the sa
'ire Department is hereby authorized to issue such a permit.
Section 2. Any person, firm, corporation, partnership, or individual violating any of
the provisions of this Ordinance upon conviction thereof, shall be deemed guilty of a

isdemeanor and shall be fined in any sum not less than Twenty five ($25.00) dollars nor
I than Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars and each act shall constitute a separate offense.
Section 3. Ordinance No. 753, passed and approved on the 17th day of April, 1933, b

the City of Fayetteville of gasoline and gasoline products being vital to the public
peace, h&alth and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance

The Mayor read a letter from the Firemen of the Fayetteville Fire Department stating that

The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously.
alderman Richardson moved that the bid bonds be returned to the unsuccessful bidders on
the Fire Apparatus.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Parish and passed unanimously.

Ir. John Mahaffey appeared before the Council with a plat for a new Sub -Division to be
known as "Jackson's First Addition".
After a brief discussion, Alderman"Richardson moved that this plat be referred to the!
Planning Commission.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously.
The City Engineer then read two bids on the painting of the City Administration Building.

Mr. Steve Starwyck appeared before the Council on behalf of -the U.S. Navy in regard to
the building of the Standard Electronics Facility which the Navy wishes to build in
Fayetteville.
Electronics After a lengthy discussion, Alderman Richardson moved that the Mayor and City Clerk be

The Mayor reported that he had a prospective buyer for the.City Uwned land where the >
present gravel pit is located and which contains 10 acres, more or less.
Alderman Alexander.moved that the Mayor be authoriFed to advertise for bids on this
property.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously.
Alderman Richardson reported that the Finance Committee had approved the bills and
moved that they be allowed as approved.
The motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously.
