WHEREAS, it appears that location -of said liquor -store at the corner of College Avenue and Trenton Street would likely cause an increase in the traffic congestion near said intersection, and WHEREASp the proposed location of said liquor store would be in close proximity to the City Recreation Area, The City Swimming Fool: and other establishments Visited by the great majority of the youth of the City of Fayetteville. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS. 1. B. Putnam to fill the unexpir9d term of Mr. Pryor, .who recently resigned, t appo,nted Alderman'Bronson moved that Mr. Putnam be appoiDted to the vacancy on the Planning 6 c to Commission left by the resignatioin of Mr.W.'H.'Pryor. s Plan. Gasoline, or any other volatile liquids, shall not'be distributed, or .elivered n wholesale quantities, to any filling station for storage, or sale or ransferred from one vehicle to another, between the hours of 8:00 P.M. and 5:00 A.M., xcept when such distribution or delivery is authorized by a permit issued by the Chief �f the Fayetteville Fire Department on appropriate application; and the Chief of the sa 'ire Department is hereby authorized to issue such a permit. Section 2. Any person, firm, corporation, partnership, or individual violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance upon conviction thereof, shall be deemed guilty of a I isdemeanor and shall be fined in any sum not less than Twenty five ($25.00) dollars nor I than Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars and each act shall constitute a separate offense. Section 3. Alderman Bronson moved the Council authorize the Mayor to purchase the Jeep from Mr. Solvay for the above purchase price. The motion was seconded by Alderman. Alexander and passed unanimously. The Mayor read a letter from the Firemen of the Fayetteville Fire Department stating that the Fire Apparatus Equipment of thetSeagravesWore nearly met their specifications than ire that of any other company which had placed a bid. paratus The Mayor also reported that the Board of Public Affairs recommended the purchase of the chased. Fayetteville. fllderman Alexander moved to accept the recommendation of the Fayetteville Fire Department and of the Board of _Public Affairs and purchase the Fire Apparatus Equipment from the • Seagraves Co. for $13,813.00 F.O.B. Fayetteville. The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously. alderman Richardson moved that the bid bonds be returned to the unsuccessful bidders on the Fire Apparatus. John Mahaffey appeared before the Council with a plat for a new Sub -Division to be known as "Jackson's First Addition". After a brief discussion, Alderman"Richardson moved that this plat be referred to the! Planning Commission. The motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously. The City Engineer then read two bids on the painting of the City Administration Building. Painting Bids After a brief discussion, Alderman Williams moved to postpone this work and hold the bids read. t'�ntil a later date, work postponed. The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously. Mr. Steve Starwyck appeared before the Council on behalf of -the U.S. Navy in regard to the building of the Standard Electronics Facility which the Navy wishes to build in Fayetteville. Electronics After a lengthy discussion, Alderman Richardson moved that the Mayor and City Clerk be Faciiity authorized to execute a long term lease *ithethe Navy for a period of ninety nine (99) Lease years for a nominal consideration of One($1.00)Dollar for the Standard Ebotronics FaciTi Authorized, to be built on City owned property in the Northwest part of a tract formerly owned by the Boys' Club, provided the lease has been studied and approved by the City Attorney. The motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously. The Mayor reported that he had a prospective buyer for the.City Uwned land where the > present gravel pit is located and which contains 10 acres, more or less. Alderman Alexander.moved that the Mayor be authoriFed to advertise for bids on this property. The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously. Alderman Richardson reported that the Finance Committee had approved the bills and moved that they be allowed as approved. The motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously. The City Clerk then read a letter from Dr. Nolon Helstern requesting Council approval Dr.He lstern for the completion of the Water Distribution Lin k;hich 4&=irerd he had entered into a authorized contract with the City on November 16, 1955. to complete Alderman Alexander moved that Dr. Nolon Helstern be authorized to complete the water work on mains in Maple Crest Addition, north of Fayetteville, in accordance with the plans and water mains specifications as set out in his contract with the City Water Department, dated providing--- November 16, 1955, providing the first construction work under the contract is rectified to meet the plans and specifications as originally approved in the said Cont The motion was seconded by Alderman Holland and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Aye"' Richardson, Holland, Lunsford, Williams, and Alexander. "Nay" Bronson. There being five "Ayes" and only one "Nay", the mayor declared the motion passed. The Mayor reported that.he had received a deed,signed by Floyd H. Campbell and Thelma Campbell • Deed for E. Campbell.; for some land near Rockwood Apartments and deeded to the City for street purposes. Street purpose Alderman Richardsori moved that this deed be filed in the office of the City Clerk near for future consideration.
