WHEREAS, a petition was duly filed with the City Council of the City of ayetteville, Arkansas, on the 25th day of January, 1957, asking the City Council to acate and abandon certain streets, avenues, and boulevards in Oak Park Place Addition ascribed as follows: ra}nance # 1122 Wyoming Street from Razorback Road on the West to intersection with Wisconsin ®nue on the East, bordering Lots #1201 through 1207. -and 1900 through 1907 which, are o '. ROY SCOTT, MAYOR ATTEST: GEORGE J IS, CITY CLERK Mr. Pryor, on behalf of the Planning Commission then explained the necessity of Council Action,from time to time, regarding the zoning of buildings in the new area accepted in Ordinance No. 1123. Alderman Richardson then moved to authorize the Mayor to insert a Display Ad in the Northwest Arkansas Times Newspaper of Fayetteville, giving pertinent information to the nbw.ly annexed areas to the City of Fayetteville. The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously. 'Mrs. Carl Hoffman then read a proposal from the Leverett School P,T.A. requesting permission from the City Council to use money, which is now in the Sidewalk Fund and which was collected by the P.T.A. and Others to the amount of $216.00, to assist in the soundproofing of the Activity Room in the Leverett School. After a brief discussion, Alderman Parish moved that the Leverett School P.T.A. be given permission to use the $216.00 now in the Sidewalk Fund for the Recreation Room Project. The motion was seconded by Alderman Richardson and passed unanimously. (Copy of the Proposal) January 17, 1957 A petition, signed by approximately 89 persons, was presented to the Fayetteville City Council in the school year of 1951-52 which requested the building of a sidewalk on the East side of Garland Avenue between Cleveland Avenue and northward to the city limits. Up to date this proj- ect has not been completed. Since the'm6ney(,$216),,which was collected by members of the Leverett. School P.T.A. Safety Committee and others, from voluntary donations from people living outside the city limits, has not been called for by the City of Fayetteville, the Leverett School P.T.A.proposes that the City. Council give permission to use said money to assist in soundproofing the ceiling and walls of the activity room in that school. After conferring with City Attorney A.D. McAllister Jr. and Mayor Scott on this matter, we do hereby recommend that the Leverett School P.T.A. pass the resolution that the following request be presented to the Fayetteville City Council at its January 28th meeting. Alderman Bissett then moved that the Street Department maintain an accurate record of all new construction cost and report monthly to the City Council, during the three summer months, to include the amount of material and cost of labor. The motion was seconded by Alderman Williams and passed unanimously. Alderman Bissett, as Chairman of the Street Committee, then read a report from that Committee in which they recommended the asphalting of the Public Square during this summer, but no further action was taken. Alderman Bissett then gave a report of the Street Committee, regarding the purchase of a new gravel loader, in which he stated that one member of the Committee favored this purchase and two members opposed it. Purchase of neva After a lengthy discussion, Alderman Bronson moved that the Board of Public Affairs be gravel requested to'advertise for bids on a yard gravel loader. The motion was seconded by loader Alderman Lunsford and upon roll call the following vote was recorded: "Ayes" Richardson, Parish, Holland, Lunsford, Williams, Bronson, and Alexander. "Nays" Bissett. There being seven Ayes and one Nay, the Mayor declared the motion passed. Alderman Richardson reported that the Finance Committee had approved the bills and moved that they be allowed as approved. The motion was seconded by Alderman Williams and passed unanimously. Alderman Alexander moved to request the Board of Public Affairs to advertise for bids on Police Type Motorcycle with Heavy Duty Battery and Heavy Duty Generator; also for a Two -Way Radio. The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously. Alderman'Alexander then moved that the City Engineer be requested to draw specification for the repair of Fire Station No. 1, on Block Street. The motion was s'edonded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously. Alderman Williams then moved that the City Attorney write the American LaFrance people pertaining to their contract. The motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously. There being no further business, Alderman Alexander moved to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Alderman Richardson,and carried unanimously, whereupon the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
