The Fayetteville City Council met in regular session on Monday, June 250 1956.

Present: Mayor Ray A. Scott, Acting City Clerk, A. D. McAllister, Jr., City Attorney
A. D. McAllister, J ., City Engineer W. C. Smith, City --Auditor Albert Jones, City
Building Inspector Harold Lieberenz, Police Chief Pearl Watts, Fire Chief Burl
Skelton, and A13ermen: Richardson, Parish, Holland, Lunsford, Williams, Bronson and
Alexander. Absent: Bissett.
Mayor Scott recommended that City Auditor Albert Jones, be appointed to fill the
vacancy created in the office of City Clerk by reason of the death of J. W. McGehee,
City Clerk, on a part time basis at a compensation of $100 per month until such time
as a successor to Mr. McGehee has been duly elected and qualified.
Whereupon, Alderman Lunsford nominated City Auditor, Albert Jones as City Clerk of the
City of Fayetteville,Arkansas, to fill the unexpired term of J. W. McGehee, City Clerk,
on a part time basis with compensation to be fixed at $100.per month until such time
as a successor to Mr. McGehee has been duly elected and qualified. Motion was seconded
by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously..
The City Council read in full Ordinance # 1110 being an Ordinance to accept the re -plat
of lots 7-12, inclusive, of Block 4 -of the Wilson -Adams Addition to the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas. No further action was taken by the Council and the Ordinance
was left on its first reading.
Alderman Richardson moved that the application of Frank W. Lewis, for building permit
#2082 be approved. Motion was seconded.by Alderman Parish and passed unanimously.
Alderman Alexander moved that the application of Paul Walker for Building permit # 2095
be approved. Motion was seconded by Alderman Bronson and passed unanimously.
Alderman Richardson moved that the bills presented by the finance committee be allowed
and approved. Motion was duly seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously.
Alderman Bronson moved that the Mayor be requested to write a letter of condolesence.
to Mrs. J. W. McGehee, Widow of the late J. W. McGehee, City Clerk, onlbehalfaof the
City Council, and that a copy of the letter be recorded in the Council minutes. Motion
was seconded by Alderman Williams and passed unanimously.

City Engineer, Carl Smith, submitted to the Council a special report concerning the
approaching inadequacy of the City's Water supply treatment, plant and distribution
system. Alderman Williams moved that the report be received by the Council and filed
with the City Clerk. Motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously.

The Fayetteville City Council met in regular session on Monday, July 9, 1956.
Present: Mayor Roy A. Scott, City Attorney A. D. McAllister, Jr., City Engineer
W. C. Smith, City Clerk Albert J. Jones, City Building Inspector, Harold Lieberenz,
Police Chief Pearl Watts, Fire Chief Burl Skelton, and Aldermen: Richardson,
Parish,.Holland, Lunsford, Williams, Bissett, Bronson, and Alexander.
Minutes of the regular meeting held June 25, 1956 were read and approved.
Alderman Alexander moved that the application of John Gibbs for Building permit
Number 2107 be approved. The motion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed
unanimously.
Alderman Parish moved that the application of J. P. West for building permit number
2085 to construct an addition to a quonset-hut type building, located at 290
West Mountain Street, be approved when the present building is brought up to
the specifications of the first fire zone.. The motion was seconded by Alderman
Holland and passed unanimously.
Alderman Williams moved that the six (6) months temporary building permit number
f 1940 issued to Cy Carney, Jr. on January 92 1956, to construct a two-way radio
Vu �a tower on Mt. Sequoyah, be extended an"additional ninety (90)' days. Motion was.
�✓ seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously.
Ordinance Number 1110 entitled, "'AN ORDINANCE TO ACCEPT AND CONFIRM THE DEDICATION
OF ALL STREETS, ALLEYS AND EASEMENTS IN THE REPLAT OF LOTS SEVEN TO FIFTEEN
INCLUSIVE IN BLOCK FOUR, WILSON -ADAMS ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS,1`
which had been let on its first reading at the June 25, 1956 Council meeting was
called up for the second reading. The ordinance was read in its entirety by Alderman
Richardson, who made the motion that the ordinance be passed. The motion was
seconded by Alderman Alexander, and upon roll call by the Clerk the following vote
was recorded: Ayes: Richardson, Parrish, Holland, Lunsford, Williams, Bissett,
Bronson, and Alexander. Whereupon the Mayor declared the ordinance passed there
being eight ayes and no naves.

AN ORDINANCE TO ACCEPT AND CONFIRM THE DEDICATION OF ALL STREETS', ALLEYS AND EASEMENTS
IN THE REPLAT OF LOTS SEVEN TO FIFTEEN INCLUSIVE IN BLOCK FOUR, WILSON -ADAMS ADDITION
TO THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS.
WHEREAS, there is duly filed in the office of the City Clerk of the City of
Fayetteville, Arkansas, a replat dated June 26, 1956 of Lots Seven (7) to Fifteen
(15) inclusive, in Block Four (4), Wilson -Adams Addition to the City of Fayetteville,
Arkansas in which replat the streets, alleys and easements shown thereon have beemm
dedicated for public use as streets, alleys and easements; and
WHEREAS, said replat was duly approved by the City Planning Commission
of the City of Fayetteville.. Arkansas, on June 18, 1956;.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: That the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, hereby accepts and
confirms the dedication of all streets, alleys and easements dedicated in the
replat of Lots Seven (7) to r'ifteen (15) inclusive, Block Four (4) Wilson -Adams
Addition to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and hereby declares said strebts,
alleys and easements to be public streets, alleys and easements; and the City
Council hereby assumes the care, control, and jurisdiction of same.
SECTION 2: That this ordinance shall be in force and effect from and
after its passage, approval and publication.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 9th day of July, 1956.

Alderman Richardson moved that the bills presented by the Finance Committed be
allowed and approved. The motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander, and passed
unanimously.
• Alderman Richardson requested that the Committee appointed by the Mayor and the
Chamber of Commerce consider the Water report submitted by W.. C. Smith, Water
Superintendent, at the June 25 Council meeting. A discussion of the many
improvements needed throughout the City was held, at the end of the discussion
Alderman Williams moved that the Mayor write Mr. George Bowen, Chairman of the
Committee, outlining the major improvements needed, and to.furnish the Committee
