Present: Mayor Roy A. Scott, Acting City Clerk A. D. McAllister, Jr. City Attorney A. D. McAllister, Jr
City Engineer, W. C. Smith, City Auditor Albert Jones, City Building Inspector Harold Lieberenz, Police
Chief Pearl Watts Fire Chief Burl Skelton, and Alderman: Richardson, Parish, Holland, Lunsford, William
Bissett, Bronson, and Alexander.
In absence of City Clerk, J. W. McGehee, City Attorney A. D. McAllister, Jr. was designated to act as
City Clerk.
Minutes of the regular meeting of March 5, 1956 were read and approved. Alderman Lunsford moved that
the building permit of Mrs. Nora B. Adams, # 1961, be approved, c:, on condition that a dual pump system
with a pressure line be installed in accordance with recommendations of the building inspector and the
City Sewer Superintendent. Motion was duly seconded by Alderman Bronson.and passed unanimously.
City Attorney Jim Evans of Springdale, Arkansas discussed the matter of awarding a franchise for the
clean-out of septic tanks in the City of Fayetteville. Alderman Richardson moved that the matter be
referred to the Sewer Committee and the City Attorney for recommendation and report. The motion was
seconded by Alderman Holland and passed unanimously.
Alderman Richardson moved that the bills which had been approved by the Finance Committee be allowed
and approved. This motion was seconded by Alderman Alexande& and passed unanimously.
There being no further business, Alderman Richardson moved to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Bissett,
and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.

Minutes of the regular meeting of March 19, 1956 were road and approved. Alderman Lunsford moved that
the application of Carl Tackett for building permit # 1992 be denied. Motion was duly seconded,by
Alderman Bronson and passed unanimously.
Alderman Richardson moved that the application of J. E. Gregg for building permit # 1993 be approved.:
Motion was duly seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously.
Alderman Williams moved that the application of Harlan Service Station for building permit # 1998 be
approved. Motion was duly seconded by Alderman Parish and passed unanimously.
Alderman Lunsford moved that the application of B. E. House for Building permit # 1999 be approved on
` condition that the proposed addition Irdesceribed in the anolication be of concrete block construction.

Al��rman Bissett moved that the application of J. D. Fisher for building permit # 2001 be approved on
condition that the wash water be carried to a culvert on the highway; that the ditch be protected and
prevented from erosion and stagnation; that a septic tank be constructed to take care of sanitary
facilities and that a complete plan and speeiSct nd therefore be submitted by a licensed architect.
The motion was duly seconded by Alderman Bronson and passed unanimously.

Alderman Williams moved that the matter of the electric lighting system at the City Park be referred to
the City Engineer and the park committee for investigation, recommendation, and report. The motion was
seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously.
(Alderman Holland moved that the matter of removal of the delapidatedy unsightly, and unsanitary building
d on South School Street be referred to the building committee for investigation, recommendation, and
0c'Z� report. Motion was seconded by Alderman Bronson and passed unanimously.

Alderman Richardson moved that City Auditor be authorized to invest $7,000 of the 1952 Water Works
Revenue Bond Fundsin U. S. Government Series K Bonds. The motion was duly seconded by Alderman Alexander
and passed unanimously.
Alderman Bissett moved that the street department be authorized and directed to open an alley running
North g South through Block 5 of the Rose Hill Addition to the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas between
Hughes street and Berry Street, nbtion was seconded by Alderman Lunsford and passed unanimously.
Alderman Lunsford moved that the Mayor and Acting City Clerk be authorized to execute a contract pith
Johnson -Brennan Construction Company, for replacing the present wooden windows and frames on the second
and third floors of the City Administration Building and other remodeling of said building in the net
amount of $15,366.00 ( See base bid less alternate No. 1, Invitation to Bidders) on condition that the
aforesaid low bid of Johnson -Brennan Construction Company, Inc., be approved by the Board of Public
Affaits.The motion was duly seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously.,
Alderman Richardson moved that the bills presented by the finance committee be allowed and approved.
Motion was duly seconded by Alderman Alexander and passed unanimously.
There being no further business Alderman Richardson moved to adjourne�;' on seconded by Alderman Bisse
and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
