Arkansas,have homes and busines VSI& uildings in the vicinity of North College Avenue,adjacent to a creek branch which is the Clay Yoe -outlet of the lake created by the construction of a dam on the Clay Yoe Subdivision on Ea Orth Street, 1. Take The dam was built as a private recreational project. Since the City permitted the da construction, we believe it is also their responsibility to see that every precaution is tlaken to minimize the possibility of a disastrous flood which would endanger the lives of many people and the destruction of a vast amount of property. Since part of the dam 74as already given away as a result of what appears to be fau construction,and the spillway is not sufficiently large to take care of flood stages whic have been known to -occur in the area, we hereby petition the City Council of Fauetteville t`o take the necessary action to either have the lake drained or reconstrActed in accordan lith the recommendations of an engineer experienced in such matters•' Alderman Richardson made a motion that the petition be referred go the City Engineer for recommendation, this motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander, which was passed unanimously by the Council, There'being no further -business.. At this time Alderman Hunt was granted permission to retire from the Council) The•Ordinance was read in its entirety by the City Attorney,and Alderman Williams madela ion that the rules be suspended, and the Ordinance placed on its second reading,this ion was seconded by Alderman Richardsan,,and was passed unanimously. The Ordinance was then read the second time, and after discussion, Alderman Rich on made a motion that the rules be further suapended, and the Ordinance placed on'its eading, thos motion was seconded by Alderman Williama, and was passed unanimously. COPY OF ORDINANCE N0. 1086. AN ORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT PARKING ON EITHER SIDE OF NORTH COLLEGE AVENUE BETWEEN STREET ON THE SOUTH AND THE CITY LIMITS ON THE NORTH. IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTESILLE,ARKANSAS: Section 1.It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person,firm,or corporation to ark,or cause to be parked,any vehicle of whatsoever kind upon the East or West sides of ollege Avenue between Rock Street on the South and the City Limits on the North. Section 2. Any person,firm,or corporation violating the provisions of this ordi e shall be' deemed guilty of *a misdemeanor and upoh-conviction thereof shall be fined sum not less than two Dollars($2.00), nor more than Twenty -Five Dollars ($25.00),for offense. Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after 15th,1955,and its passage and approval and publication,and all ordinances or parts eof in conflict herewith be, and the same are, hereby repealed.
