Absent: Alderman McAllister. Minutes of the regular meeting -of Octber 5th.9 were read and approved. The MayCt reported that the Annual Meeting of the Arkansas Municipal League would be hel Com. at Little Rock, October 22nd and 23rd of Octbber, and the Planning Commision was to have their meeting at the same time, Alderman Burge made a motion that a committee from the to t- planning Commission and the Mayor, City Attorney and Municipal Judge be authorized to at- tenague tend these meets s with expenses aid this motion was seconded b Alderman Hunt and we ague passed unanimously by the Council* p y The City Building Inspector presented the application of P.H.Burnett for a buildi permit on Highway 62,Weat, and Alderman Burge made a motion that Permit No. 1470 be issued FI.H.Burnett, this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt and was passed unanimously by the Council. The Building Inspector presented the application of the Arkansas Ice & Cold Sto age Co., foe a permit, AbdiN:Weat Avenue, Alderman Burge made a motion that Permit No.1494 be issued to Ark.Ice & C.Storage Co.,this motion was seconded by Alderman Richardson and was passed'unanimously by the Council. The Building Inspector presented the application of Mrs.M.M.Walker for a permi at 118 West Spring,Alderman Pratt made a motion that Permit No.1495 be issued to Mrs M.M. Walker, this motion was seconded by Alderman Richardson and was passed unanimously by the Council. The Building Inspector presented the Application of D.J.Collins for a Permit at College & Cleburn, Alderman Burge made a motion that•Permit No 1497 be issued to D.J. Collins; this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanimously by the Council• The Building Inspector presented the application of Otto Gagefor a Permit on Ralston Avenue, Alderman Richardson made a motion that Permit No. 1499 be issued to Otto Gage, this motion was seconded by Alderman Williams, and was passed unanimously by the 1 HL1 The City Attorney intribduced a Resolution directing the City Clerk to publish notic a hearing on the Petition of Hugh Kincaid & Virgil Fields to close an alley in Block City Park Addition, Alderman Burge made a motion that the Resolution be adopted, this tion was seconded by Alderman Richardson, which was passed unanimously by the Council, I the Mayor declared the Resolutton adopted. RESOLUTION NO., W54 WHEREAS, it appears that the petition of Hugh Kincaid and Virgil Fields, to vacate 1 that portion of an alley beginning at the Northwest corner of Block Eleven(ll) in the _ ty Park Addition,as per recorded plat thereof thence running east 170 feet;thence North feet;thence west 170 feet;thence south 20 feet to•the point/ of beginning,was filed th the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, on October 1, 19540 and Whereas, it appears that this is t�e second regular meeting of the City Council fol wing the filing of said petition, NOW,THEREFOREs BE IT RESOLVED: 1.That the 15th day of November,1954,be and the same is hereby fixed as the day for hearing upon said petition. 2. That the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to give notice of such heari publication thereof once a week for two (2) consecutive weeks in the Northwest Arkanse les. 3. That the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to cause an abstracteels itificate as to the record owners of the lots abutting upon said alley to be attached t d petition prior to the date set for hearing thereon. RESOLUTION NO.4-54 WHEREAS, it appears that the petition of Henry G.Hotz,Stella P.Hotz,Merrell E on, Jean P. Thompson, Philip Tapp ,Chas.E.Jones# Elaine M.Jones, Carter Short and Short to vacate a portion of Hotz Drive and a public road all in Hotz Addition was with the City Clerk of the City of Fayetteville,Arkansas, on October 182 19549and WHEREAS,it appears that this is the next regular meeting of the City Council the filing of said petition, . NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT 'RESOLVED: 1. That the 15th day of November,19542be and the same is hereby fixed as the day se hearing upon said petition. 2. ATTEST: SIY9yl City CLERK APPROVED : /2edac_�/,r,r��4fayor E 7 • 77 Alderman Richardsgn reported that the bills had been approved by the Auditing Committee. ,Aderman Alexander made a motion that they be allowed as as approved, this motion was seconded by Alderman Richardson and was passed unanimously by the Council* $7500 The Mayor reported that the construction at the Airport was going to require more I money than had been appropriated to complete the job, and Aldermah Richardson made a mo- aatied for tion that an amount up to $7,500.00 be appropriated from the General Fund, this motion w seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanimously by the Council Airport Audit The question of placing the contract for the Audit of the City for the year 1954 i came up for discussion, and Alderman Richardson made a motion that the contract be given contract to Scarbrough, Myers and Baker this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was pass 1954 unanimously by the Council* S(Certified Public Accountants) Alderman Hunt made a motion that the minutes of the regular meeting of October E be amended with reference to the purchase of Traffic Lights, to read as follows: It That the Street Committee be authorized to recommend to the Board of Public Affairs the purchase of the Stop sights necessary to control pedestrian and car traffic tober on all four sides of the square, and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to exe- cute the necessary contracts in connection therewith. And with reference to the "Lease with option to Purchase the Byrnes Property",to read as follows; That the Off Street Parking Committee be authorized to negotiate�paY� LEASE with I to Purchase Agreement"on the Byrnes Property"as authorized in the,,proposal, and tk the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute said Lease Agreement, this motion was seconded by Alderman Richardson and was passed unanimously by the Council. Alderman Hunt presented a request from the University City Baptist church for permission to place a number of directional Signs along Maple Street, Alderman Williams made a motion that the request be referred to the Street Committee, this motion was secor ed by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanimously by the Council. There being no further business, Alderman Alexander made a motion to adjour his motion was seconded by Alderman Heflin, and was passed unanimousky by the Council, nd the Mayor declared the Council adjourned. Mill Clt Park Fund Mill o a Levy or a s� z Mills This motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander, and was passed unanimously by the Counci The City Bldg Inspector presented the application of B.Norwood for a permit at 215 S.Block Ave., Alderman Burge made a motion that Permit No.1511 be issued to B.Norwood this motion was seconded by Alderman Richardson,, and was passed unanimously by the Counci Alderman Heflin made a motion that the Mayor be authorized to continue the same thod of purchasing Gasoline & Oil that had been followed for the last 10 months, that is, alternate the purchases each month from an Alphatical list of all the Wholesale disteib- ors in the City, this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and on roll call by the erk, the following vote was recorded: Burge, Hunt, Pratt, Williams, McAllister,HAflin:^:�, d Alexanddr. Nays: Richardson. And the Mayor declared the motion carried, as there were Ayes, and 1 Nay. There being no further business, Alderman Hunt moved to adjpurn, seconded b, derman Williams, which was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declared t] until adjourned.
