sent: Mayor Roy A.Seott, City Clerk J.W.MeGehee, City Attorney A.D.MeAllister, City
ineer W.C.Smith, City Auditor Harold Ziek, City Building Inslactor Harold Lieberenz,
Lee Chief Pearl Watts, Fire Chief Burl Skelton, and Aldermene Burge, Hunt, Williams,
lliater, Heflin and Alexander* Absent : Alderman -Richardson and Pratte
Minutes of the regular meeting of July 7th, were read and approved.
Hearing The Mayor stated that the first order of business would be to hear any one present,who '.
)nrezoning wished to be heard on the proposal to.ise-zone Wrblock of property west of the 'Razorback
arTom Stadium into a multiple housing area,but before proceeding, the City Clerk was instructed
gathers to read a letter from Louie W?Walter reqesting that his'name be removed from the Petitioi
asking for the re -zoning, after which , a general discussion was had,'and Alderman Burch

ade a motion that the question be tabled and the Board of Trustees of the University be
requested to make an official report on the University's stand on expansion in the area
under discussion, this motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander and was passed uganimous
by the Council.
Henbest I The Petition of Gus A Henbest for re -zoning some Lots on North Garland Avenue came
Azoning up for discussion, and it was brought out that the Planning Commission had made a report
to the Council July Tth,19540 in which they recomme des A at�the Petition be denied, Alde
man Williams made a motion that the Council acceptAl a recommendation of the Planning
Commission, this motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander and was passed unanimously by
the Council.
The City Building Inspector presented the application of Owen C.Mitchell for a
Building permit at 413 W.Center, Alderman Burge made a motion that Permit No01417 be issi;
to Ownen C Mothhell, this motion was seconded by Alderman Heflin and was passed unanimous
by the Council.
The City Bldg Inspector presented the application of C.M.Davis for a permit to
erect a plumbing shop bldg at Mountain and Locust, Aldermen Heflin made a_motion that pal
No.1418 be issued to O.M.Davis,this motion was seconded by Alderman Burge and was passed
unanimously by the Council*
alrgrounds-- Same route, except for elimination of Duncan Stand the addition of Terry
illage on itis return trip.This will necessitate making the S.College Avenue and Sixth
treat part of the route first instead of on the way back to the.Square* Time- same as
resent.
This arrangement would eliminate the South 71-Parksdale and Terry Village
butes. We wish to place this new schedule in operation Monday, August 2nd.
The Mayor reported that he had a telephone call from Mr.Day, who recently por-
t chased part of the Norman Harris farm, wanting)"arrange for a meeting with the Mayor and
Sewer Commtee to work out an a greement for an easement or right-of-way across the pro;

f the City to get to his property,Alderman Williams made a motion that the request be

eferred to the Mayor and Sewer Committee for recommendation, this motion was seconded b;
Alderman McAllister and was passed unanimously by the Council.
There being no Hurther busbness, Alderman Alexander moved to adjourn, seconded by
Alderman Heflin, which was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declared the
Council adjourned.

The City Building Inspector presented the application of Bob Bogart for a permit
for filling station at Dickson and Greqqg Streets, Alderman Burge made a motion that Perms
No. 1421 be issued to Bob Bogart,Provided he complies with all the building regulations,
this motion was seconded by Alderman Alexander and was passed unanimously by the Council.
Alderman Williams introduced " AN ORDINANCE LIMITING AND REGULATING THE USE OF
CITY SUPPLIED WATER BY AIR-CONDITIONING. SYSTEMS; REQUIRING PERSONS INSTALLING SUCH S1ZSTEh
TO OBTAIN A PERMIT; REQUIRING SUCH SYSTEMS TO BE EQUIPPED WITH WATER CONSERVATION DEVICES
ESTABLISHING STANDARDS OF OPERATION; PROVIDING FOR THE INSPECTION OF THE INSTALLATION�ANC
OPERATION THEREOF; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF ITS PROVISIONS."

The Ordinance was read in its entirety for the first time, and Alderman Williams
onllas
made a motion that the rules be suspended, and the Ordinance placed on its second reading
reading this *otion was seconded by Alderman Alexander, and on roll call by the Clerk, the follovi
vote was recorded: Ayes: Burge, Hunt, Willisms,McAllister and -"Alexander. Nays Heflin*
abseht, and not voting Richardson and Pratt. And the Mayor declared the motion lost as tk

Sop the Ordinance was left on its first reading*
Alderman Alexander reported that the bills had been approved by the auditing Commit
and made a motion that they be allowed as approved, this motion was seconded by Alderman
Heflin, and was passed unanimously by the Council.
Mr.H.W.Younkin,Pres. of University City Transit Co. appeared before the Council
Bus with a request to make some further changes in the Bus Schedule, Alderman Williams made i
Service
motion that the request be approved as presented, this motion was seconded by Alderman

Burge and was passed unanimously by the.Council.
Copy of letter outlining the changes being as follows:
Maple, Garland and Leverett-- same route and same schedule as present.
Veterans Hospitalm-Mission--•same route and same time of departure as presentseliminatini
