Williams Present: Mayor Pro -tem Webb H.Williams, City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney A.D.McAllis er, • Ma or Pro- City Engineer John Ilfahaffey, Assistant City -Engineer Clyde T.Everett, City Auditor Harold Zick, Building Inspector Harold Lieberenz, and Aldermen Burge, Hunt, Pratt, Heflin and Kelt. teT Absent:Mayor Powell M:Rhea and Aldermen: Richardson and McAllister. Bids for ulldozer est of Si n owner ion 0 es of the regular meeting of August 3rd, were read and approved. At this time the bids werevopemed for furnishing a light tractor with bulldozer hed, which showed that the following bids had been submitted: E.A.Martin Machinery Co. 5833770'26 Kern-Limerick,Inc., 81685099 (Cash Disc.5p'402.29) Little Rock Road Machinery Co. 89838.03 R.A.Young & Son 7,850.00 lderman Pratt made a motion that the bids be referred to the City Engineer and Sanitatio ommittee for study and recommendation, this motion was seconded by Alderman Burge, and assed unanimously by the Council. Owners of sign Companies protested that the present limit of 15 square feet in ign which cah hang out from a building over the sidewalk is restricting their business% fter discussion, the matter was referred to the Building Committee for study,and the Cit uilding Inspector was instructed to notify some who are planning new sins, to delay con he City Building Inspector presented the follwing applicati(bns for Building Permits: G.M.Clark2'for an awning on the Boston Store, Alderman Burge made a motion that uilding permit No. 1088 be issued to G.M.Clark, this motion was seconded by Alderman ratt, and was passed unanimously by the Council ts: I J.E.Brokks for a permit on North College Ave., Alderman Pratt made a motion that wilding Permit NooIO92 be issued to J.E.Brooks, this motion was seconded by Alderman Heflin, and was passed unanimously by the Cibuncile to purcr to acres of land E D.Fraud for a permit to erect a tent to hold religious services on 62 Highway,West, lderman Hunt made a motion that Building Permit No.1096 be issued to D.Frau this motion as seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanimously by the CouncilprovidedStat�e ire Laws are met ) "JUG" Wheeler for a permit at 313 Rollston, Alderman Burge made a motion that ermit No.1098 be issued to "Jug" Wheeler, this motion was seconded by Alderman Kent, and as passed unanimously by the Council. The Assistant City Engineer presented the follyving :F,5timates and Certificates for construction work: Certificate"No 21 Sevier Lateral No.308 to Tune Construction Co. 10% fee retained,. (lderman Kent made a motion that the Certificate be approved, which was in the amount of -175.80; this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanimously by the ouncil. Certificate No.3 to Tune Construction Co. for $275.00, the amount of Highway Bond on North Highway 71 Water Association Contract, Alderman Kent made a motion that the Certificate bepapproved, this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanimo y by the Council. Estimate No.l to Tune Construction Co. for $2,947.09 for construction on Reservoir Tie-in Line, Alderman Kent made a motion that the Estimate and certificate be approved, tlIis motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanimously by the Coyncil. Estimate No 2, Certificate No. 2 to P+IcClelland Engineering and Construction Co. or work on the Sevier Extension contract, amounting to $5,109.85, Alderman Burge made a otion that Estimate and certificate be approved, this motion was seconded by Alderman Keit, rid was passed unanimously by the Coyncil. IEnginebr's-certificate to Anchor'Construction Co. for paving 400 feet of North Street with hot asphalt, amounting to 59910352 Alddrman Burge made a motion that the cer- t1ifivate be approved, this motion was seconded by Alderman Kent, and'was passed unanimous y the Council. An offer of the Culver -McGuire Constructmon Co.of 55 cents a lineal foot to th City for a six inch water line along Highway 71 which is being abandoned,if the line is 1 In the ground, was reported. Engineer H.R.Holway4 contacted in Tulsa, requested time for at Ting the proposition, Alderman-Kentrmade a motion that the matter be referred to the Wate Committee and Holloway, this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanim y by the Council. The City Attorney presented the contract of Neil B.Ingles to sell to the City a 10 acre tract of land on Highway No. 112 to be used by the City for a gravel pit; Alder 3e4lderman Hunt made a motion that the Council ratify the action of the Mayor and City Cler In the signing of the contract, this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passe unanimously by the Council. of 1 Alderman Kent reported the bills had been audited and signed, and made a motion that they be allowed as approved, this motion was seconded by Alderman Hunt and was passed animously by the Council. A letter was read from the Chamber of Commerce -which recommended that Council rirect the Mayor to write a letter to the Arkansas Highway Commission asking them to grant 90 days more in which the City can study a proposed ordinance calling for the City to obtain I and for a Highway route, Alderman Pratt made a motion that the recommendation be approved, this motion was seconded by Alderman Kent, and was passed unanimously by the Council. The City Attorney introduced "AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE AND ABANDON A PORFION OF I LANOAVENUE BETWEEN PROSPECT STREET AND �HE NORTH -SOUTH bENUE IN PARK VILLAGE ADDITION Ordinance was left on itd first reading. There being no further buainess, Alderman Burge made a motLon to adjourn, this m( :ion was seconded by Alderman Heflin; and was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.
