WI b ayetteville City Council met in regular session, Monday, August 17th, 1953.

At this time the bids werevopemed for furnishing a light tractor with bulldozer

lderman Pratt made a motion that the bids be referred to the City Engineer and Sanitatio
ommittee for study and recommendation, this motion was seconded by Alderman Burge, and

The Assistant City Engineer presented the follyving :F,5timates and Certificates for
construction work:
Certificate"No 21 Sevier Lateral No.308 to Tune Construction Co. 10% fee retained,.
(lderman Kent made a motion that the Certificate be approved, which was in the amount of
-175.80; this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanimously by the
ouncil.
Certificate No.3 to Tune Construction Co. for $275.00, the amount of Highway Bond
on North Highway 71 Water Association Contract, Alderman Kent made a motion that the
Certificate bepapproved, this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanimo
y by the Council.
Estimate No.l to Tune Construction Co. for $2,947.09 for construction on Reservoir
Tie-in Line, Alderman Kent made a motion that the Estimate and certificate be approved, tlIis
motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt, and was passed unanimously by the Coyncil.
Estimate No 2, Certificate No. 2 to P+IcClelland Engineering and Construction Co.

An offer of the Culver -McGuire Constructmon Co.of 55 cents a lineal foot to th
City for a six inch water line along Highway 71 which is being abandoned,if the line is 1

The City Attorney presented the contract of Neil B.Ingles to sell to the City
a 10 acre tract of land on Highway No. 112 to be used by the City for a gravel pit; Alder

Alderman Kent reported the bills had been audited and signed, and made a motion
that they be allowed as approved, this motion was seconded by Alderman Hunt and was passed
animously by the Council.
A letter was read from the Chamber of Commerce -which recommended that Council
rirect the Mayor to write a letter to the Arkansas Highway Commission asking them to grant
90 days more in which the City can study a proposed ordinance calling for the City to obtain

and for a Highway route, Alderman Pratt made a motion that the recommendation be approved,
this motion was seconded by Alderman Kent, and was passed unanimously by the Council.
The City Attorney introduced "AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE AND ABANDON A PORFION OF I
LANOAVENUE BETWEEN PROSPECT STREET AND �HE NORTH -SOUTH bENUE IN PARK VILLAGE ADDITION
Ordinance was left on itd first reading.
There being no further buainess, Alderman Burge made a motLon to adjourn, this m(
:ion was seconded by Alderman Heflin; and was passed unanimously by the Council, and the
Mayor declared the Council adjourned.
