Under the autority of Ordinance No.953,dated the 15th of August, 1949 here are hereby nromulgaiyed the following Rules and Regulations governing the cpnsumpt•io d restricting the allowable uses of water during emergencies created by a shortage of upply of water resulting from drought, flood, earthquake, tornado, war,fire,light-ning, abotage and for any and%or all other causes that might emdanger health,,safety and welfa e f the citizens of Fayetteville, Arkansas. These Rules and :Regulations shall become effec,- ve upon approval of the City Council, and may be invoked upon the reconvmendatioft of the ater Superintendent and with the approval of .the Mayor and the Water i Committee. Section 2. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1 hereof, the\Nater Superintend ri hall have the authority to curtail or prohibit the use of City Water,as, the emergency at and may require in the following order: 1. Lawn sprinkling, outside the City Limits. 2. Irrigation of gardens,crops, pastures,etc, outside City Limits. 3. The washing off cars,trucks, or other vehicles outsidrthe City Limits 4. Lawn sprinkling inside the City Limits. 5. All irrigation of gardens, crops, pastures, etc.inside City Limits.. 6. The use of Fountains, pools,or unessential governmental functions. 7. All commercial.or industrial use,outside the City Limits,not directl connected with the preparation or production of food or milk essenti to the welfare of the citizens of Fayetteville, Arkansas. 8, Thewashing of cars, trucks, or other v hicles inside City Limits. A11,Commercisl or industrial use outdid the City Limits. All commercial and industrial not connected with the preperation or production of food or milk. vj.. PUBLICATION Notice of any curtailment or prohibition of the use of ater as hereinabove authorized shall be given by publication in a newspaper having a eneral, bona fide circulation in the City of Fayettevslle, Arkansas. Section 4. Notwithstanding the order of discontinuance or curtailment set forth �n Section 2 wherein above, if in the opinion of the !later Superintendent and upon con- urrence by the Mayor and the Water Committee of the City of Fayetteville it appears that public interest will be best served by departing from the schedule set forth in Section 2 ereof, the Water Superintendent shall have the authority to depart from said schedule wring the period of the emergency causing such departure.
