Jr. ty Engineer John'Mahaffey; City Auditor Harold Zick,-Fire-Chief Burl Skelton, and dermen; Richardson, Burge, McGoodwin, Pratt, Williams, Kincaid, Heflin and Kent* Minutes of the regular meeting of February 26th were read and approved* Lie Engineer"s'estimate No'4, Certificate No. 7 for.furnishing, laying water mains and nstalling fire-hydrants,valves and fittings for-FAYETTEVILLE SUBURBAN WATER DISTRICT 0.1 by McClelland Engineering & Construction Co.amounting to $471:95, -Alderman McGooda ade a'motion that the estimate be approved for $471.95, this motion was seconded by Al an Pratt and was passed unanimously by the Council • The Engineer's estimate No 2, Certificate No,2 on contract fon concrete box alveft- arid- retaining wall of Street Improvement District No 56' amounting to $2,247;97 as presented,Aldermari Kent made a motion that the estimate be approved,`and a warrant; e issued to McClelland Engineering & Construction Co.for $2,247.97, this motion was econded by Alderman Williams, and was passed unanimously by the Council* Alderman McGoodwin made a motion that John E.Mahaffey and 2 men -be author- zed';to-attend a Water:,snd Sewer -Convention to be held at HoV Springs;'Arkansas,-April =10=11; this motion was seconded by Alderman Pratt and was passed ijnanimously by the ouncil. Alderman Kent reported that the bills kad been audited and signed and'made motion that they be allowed -as approved; this motion -:was seconded by Alderman Pratt, nd was passed unanimously by the Councils' Alderman Heflin reported a complaint about a loading zone on Dickson Streets' Lderman Williams made'a motion that the matter be referred to the Street Committee for :udy and recommendation, this motion was seconded by Alderman Kent, and was passed unani-:. >usly by the Council* Alderman Kincaid, chairman of the Police Committee reported that the Chief id madd'a request for a RADIO OPERATOR & DESK MAN, after discussion, Alderman Kincaid 3d"e a motmon that the Police Chief be authorized to employ a Radio operator & Desk man a'salary not to'exceed"$175.00 per month, this motion was seconded by Alderman Rich- ^dson, and was passed -unanimously by the Councils - Alderman Burge introduced a resolution to set a Rate=EoP a hearing to Lose'a portion of Loretto Street lying between Whitham Street and Bushnell_Street, Lderman Kent -made a motion that the Resolution be adopted, this motion was seconded by Lderman Richardson, and was passed unanimously by the Council* I (COPY OF SOLUTION) WHEREAS, a'petition signed by the property owners abutting on the portion of ze Sifireet affected was filed with the City Council of Fayetteville, Arkansas ori the �h day of February; -1951s' asking that that portion of Loretto Street lying between Whit am Street and Bushnell Street be vacated, retto St; - " NOW THEREFORE, -be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkahsas*that the 26th day of March, 1951 be desmgnated as the day for the hearing of said petition and -that the�City Clerk -be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to give notice -of such meeting by publication of said notice once a week for two (2) consec utive weeks in the Northwest Arkansas Times. Passed and approved.this 12th day of March, 1951. Approved Attest Mayor y a 1 er t P 0 The Petittaon to close a part of Highland Avenue came up for discussion, and Alderman McGoodwin made a motion that the petition be referred to the -City Attorney to see if all the signers of ths'petition are in accordance with the law, this motion was seconded by Alderman Williams, and was passed unanimously by the Council. The -Mayor reported that the City had 2 old trucks, (a 1935 Internattonal and a .. 1937 Ford)that were not in -condition to use and were not wotth fixing up; Alderman To sell MCGdodwin made a motion that' the Mayor be authorized to sell the trucks at the best prise 2 old- obtainable;'this motion was seconded by Alderman Williams, and was passed unanimously by i the Council* trucks The bids for the construction of a sidewalk along the South side of Lot 13, Block 28 of the Original Town of Fayetteville were opened and presented with the followin results: Hahn Construction Co :... ..........$475.50 Tune Construction Co. :..:::;:::. 577.50 To constructJ Tom Eads Construction Co. 615.00 I sidewalk Ald'eroodwin made a motioh that the contract for the construction of a sidewalk by Paddock alongth side of -Lot l3, Block 28 of the.Ori incl Town of Fayetteville be awarded Bldg to theonstructioh C o on their sealed bid of $475.50, said contract be subject to the apof the City Attorney of all procedures and the contract pertaining thereto! this mas;.seconded by Alderman Williams, and was passed unanimously by the Council. TYiere being no further business, Alderman Williams moved to adjourn, seconds by Alderman Richardsln , which was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor decla the Council adjourned.
