Price Dickson presented a RESOLUTION with reference to the contract between the City of'I Fayetteville, Arkansas and Fayetteville Suburban Water Distrkct No.l ofiWashington County. Alderman Feathers made a motion that RESOLUT?ON be adopted, *this motion was seconded by Alderman 'Williams) and was passed unanimously by the Council. 100 RESOLUTION. ^'I REAS, the contract between the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Fayettevill Suburban Water District Mo, 1 of Washington County, Arkansas called for the payment of 2,000.00 before construction on said project shopld begin, and, %solution hanging WHEREAS, said sum of $82,000.00 was based on the engineer's estimate prepared ab le the time of the execution of said contract,and ;posit )r Whereas, the City of Fayetteville advertised for bids on said contract and recei ed = 1.".r ater Dist. low bid of $}52,554.50 exclusive of engineering and contingencies and, Whereas, it appears from the original estimate that quantities=were accutately stablished and over runs in any substantial amount are improbable, and, =R Fayetteville Suburban Water Districb No.l has deposited with the City Fayetteville the sum of $57,554.50 which amount is considered adequate to pay the con - actor and to provide supervision in the construction of -said project. Nt, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: That at the request of Fayetteville Suburban Water District No.l of Washington Count, kansas, the contract between said District and the City of Fayetteville be amended so a3 provide that construction s4all begin upon -payment to the City of Fayetteville of the m of..A57,554.50 and it further appearing that said sum has been deposited by said distr ct th the City of Fayetteville, work on -said project is ordered to begin at once it being derstood that the City is to retain a sum equal to five per cent of the contract price r supervision in the construction of said project and the remaining amount over and ove the contract price shall be held as a contingency fund to be applied on any over runs .ich may occur during the progress of the work and in •the event over runs are less than e contingent fund reserved for that purpose, the remainder shall be refunded to said strict. Alderman Williams made a motion that the City construct a "LOIN WATER BRIDr,E" OW on the OUT LET road for Thurman Parsons in the vicinity of "LAKE FAYETTEVILLE", this moti Rter vas seconded by Alderman McGoodwin, and on roll call by the Clerk, the•following vote was ridge recorded; 'AYES: Richardson, I.TCGOODWIN, Bohe, Williams, Kincaid and Kent. Nays: Feathers' End �Iihite. And the Mayor declared the motion carried, as therec.were 6 ayes, and 2 nays. 'Alderman White made a motion that all rule's ben' uspended and the Ordinance assed,this motion was seconded by Alderman Richardson, and'on roll call by the Clerk, he following vote was"recorded; Ayes: Richardson, Feathers,.McGoodwin, Bohe, Williams, incaid, White and Kent. AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE VACUMN LEAF LOADER FOR THE STREET ARTMENT OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, AND -FOR OTHER PURPOSES, '^lHEREAS, The Street Department of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas is in need a vacumn leaf loader by reason of the fact that the leaf problem in Fayetteville has er been solved because of the tremendous amount of man hours required to remove leave n the City streets and the functions required of the Street Department cannot be main ned without the purchase ofsaid vacumn leaf loader. NO171 THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILF., Section 1. Threr is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund the sum of Two housand, Five Hundred, and Eighty Nine Dollard P•: Thirty Cents ($2,589,30) for the urpose of purchasing a vacumn ea loader. Alderman Richardson made a motion that a "NO PARKING AREA" be estabilshed on "ATO PARK- forth side of West Maple Street from Bushnell $avenue to Garland Avenue, and that PARALF.L TG ON ARKIITG be permitted on the south side of Maple Street from Arkansas Avenue to Garland W.IvIAPLE venue,"this motion was seconded by Alderman Kincaid, and was passed unanimously by the ouncil. Alderman Richardson made a motion that the following changes be made in the Change vork that had been approved to be done at the City Hospital: That the item of fireproofi. in con- ;he basement and the item of doors at'the head of the stairway to the third floor be cx- tract for luded from the contract, and that the. purchase of a. new water heater and storage tank Ho spit al e included in the contract, this motion was seconded by Alderman Feathers, and was pass znanimously by the Council. .23 d Alderman White made a motion that the City observe November 23rd as Thanksgiving zoliday, this motion was seconded by Alerman Kent, and was passed unanimously by the ouncil. iday Alderman 11cGoodwin made a motion that the Mayor be authorized to go to LittleAl hursday, November 16th, to attend a meeting of Arkansas Municipal League in the interes f the TURN -BACK Gasoline -tax to the Cities, thmotion was seconded by Alderman Wil- iams, and was passed unanimously by the Council. The Board of Public Affairs is hereby directed to advertise for bids or said vacumn leaf loader as set forth in their -recommendation and to proceed with the warding of a contract and the purchase of said vacumh'leaf loader as provided by ection 19-1022 et seq and to arrange for delivery of said vacumn leaf loader at the arliest possible time.
