Alderman Kincaid made a motion that Nixon Powell be employed as Assistant

r Alderman Feathers, chairman bf the Light Committee brought up fhe question
f insatalling four lights inside the square, and stated that the Southwestern Gas & Ele
ric Company and the Chamber of Commerce had made an agreement to pay the cost of instal
ng the lights., and Alderman Feathers made a motion that the City pay the light bill for
he four lightse after they are insatlled; this motion was seconded by Alderman Kincaid,

There being no further business, Alderman Kent made a motion to adjourn, second

AN ORDINANCE FIXING LICENSE FEES FOR THE OPERATION OF BOWLING ALLEYS IN
IE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THERE:"IITH,
FOR OTHER PURPOSES:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GIT Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,A RKANSAS:
Section 1. The annual license or tax for the privilege of. operating bowling alleys
ithin the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas shall be .;15.00 per annum for each alley up to
ad including four alleys and $7.50 for each additional alley over and above four alleys.
Section 2. The license or tax herein provided shall become due on January 1st in each
ear'and shall be for the privilege of operating said alley or alleys for a period of one
ear
Section 3. No person, firm or corporation shall operate a bowling alley in the Cit
f Fayetteville, Arkansas without having first paid the license or tax hereinabove provided
ad in the event the license or tax is not paid as provided in Section 2 hereof, the person
irm or corporation so operating such alley or alleys shall be guilty of a misdemeanor an
pon conviction thereof, shall be fined in any sum not exceeding ;325.00 for each alley so
perated in violation of the terms of this ordinance and each day of such operation shall

Section 4. All -ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed and it appearing that on May 12, 1947 the City Council fixed rates provided in
his ordinance and has -actually been licensing such alleys as herein provided since that
tine but that no ordinance embodying the terms of the action of the Council was ever
adopted, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full for

Please be advised that the City Engineer and I agreed with the owners of the
