the City of Fayetteville, Alderman McGoodwin made a motion that the PLAT be filed and

T'he Mayor stated that the bids for construction of the ;Reservoir on Bradley Heig
nd for laying of the pipe line from the reservoir to the C(hty limits had been opened at
O'clock P.M., and asked.Mr. Mehlburger,engineer on the Project to present the bids, wi

sections deal with .flamable liquids and'liquified petroleum gases. The 01ty Council also
is considering the adoi)tion of the rules and regulatimns of the Boiler Inspection Division
of the Department of Labor of the State -of Arkansas, adopted and 1pade effective by said
oiler inspection division on -August 12 1949. Not less than three copies of the fire pr -
vention code and of the rules and regulations of the Boiler Inspection Division of the
Department of Labor of the Statevof Arkansas 'are on file in the lffice of the City Clerk
f the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas for inspection and view by the public and are open
o public examination.
This'notice is given pursuant to the terms of Act 267 of the Acts of Arkansas
for the year 1949.

Alderman Kent, chairman of the -auditing committee reported that the bills
had been audited and signed, Alderman Williams made a motion that the bills be allowed a
approved, seconded by Alderman White, which was passed unanimously by the Council.
C ty Park Alderman Kincaid stated that he had'received a check for $1,250.00 from the
W�rk Women's Civic Club for a tennis Court at the Park, and --City Engineer reported that work
is under way on the swimmong pool, and that if materials come in on schedule, the pool
should be open by June 15th,.

Alderman Williams reported that the Fire Committee had made a study of the
rules and regulations of the Civil Service Commissiln governing the Fire Department, an
made a motion that they be approved, this motion was seconded by Alderman Kent, andtwas
passed unanimously by the Council.
Alderman White made a motion that the traffic officer be instructed not to
mark cars on Center Street between Church and Locust Avenues during the strawberry mark t
ing season, this motion.was seconded by Alderman McGoodwin, and was passed unanimously
by the Council.
Alderman Feathers made a motion that sections 4 & 5 of the Resolution passe
May 9th,19491 with reference to vacations & Sick leaves be changed to read as follows:
Section 4. All other employees of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas on either

reference to the two deals;this motion was seconded by Alderman Williams, which was passe

The Mayor reported that the City Park was in need of a new glower, Alderman
incaid made a motion that the Mayor be"authorized to buy a new mower with a trade-in
llowance for the old mower now on han(i, this motion was seconded by Alderman McGoodwin,
Which was passed unanimously by the Council.

There being no further business, Alderman McGoodwin moved to adjourn, seconde

Bathers, Bohe and White. The Mayor then voted Aye:, and declared the motion passed, as th
were 5 Ayes and 4-Nays.
Alderman Williams then made a motion that RESOLUTION as amended, be adopted,
his motion was seconded by Alderman Kincaid , and was passed unanimously by the Council.

WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville recogizes the need for additional housing
or the Postoffice Department and the various federal agencies which under normal condi-
ions occupy space in Federal Buildings, and
WHEREAS, present Federal Housing in the City of Fayetteville has been inade-
uate for many years and a new Federal building is essential for the dispatch of normal
usiness of the Postoffice and other Federal agencies maintained in the City of Fayette-
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TI E' CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FA`_rET7EVIL
That the Postoffice Department give serious consideration to the Constructio:
and erction of a building suitable for present and anticipated needs of the Postoffice an
ueh other Federal agencies as are normally housed in Federal buildings including the
ayetteville Division of the Federal Court for the Western District of Atkansas.
Be it further resolved that the matter of selection of the location be dete
