Alderman White made a motion that the bills be alloweddas approved, seconded by Alderman

After discussion, Alderman Feathers made a motion that the awarding of the contract be
postponed till regular meeting of the Council August 8th, this motion was seconded by
Alderman Kincaid, and was passed unanimouslyaby the Council:
Alderman McGoodwin made a motion that the checks of the three high bidders
be returned, and that the three low bidders be permitted•to substitute BID BONDS for thea
checks, which are to be ret aimed by the City tmll the contract is awarded, this motion

Garbage Harvin Dowell to sell them all of the garbage from the City at a price of $1:75 per ton,

Alderman Feathers, chairman of the Insiirance committee presented a re-
3ort of the Insurance Committee with reference to'the Insurance that was to be renewed

the InsuranceESghangeand that they be directed to let the McKinney agency have. approxi-
nately 10 % of the Insurance, this motion was seconded by Alderman Kinbaid, after dis-
.ussion, Alderman White made a motion to amend the motion to turn the Insurance over to
a^Exchangg with instructions that they EARMA13K Aa pgoximately 10 % of the insurance to
Agencies in Fayetteville not now participating, but, who could write insurance e t woule
neet the approval of the City Council, thks motion was seconded by.Alderman �a;nd roll
Ball by the Clerk, the following vote resulted; Ayes: Feathersi Bohe,'Williams,White and
Kent. Nays: McGoodwin and Kincaid. Absent and not voting i Richardson. And the Mayor
declared the Amendment carried, as there were 5.Ayess and 2 -Nays.
The Mayor then put the question on the motion as amended, and on roll call by ti

Nays: McGoodwin and Kincaid. Absent and not voting: Alderman Richardson. And the Mayor
declared the motion as amended had carried, as there were 5 Ayes and 2cnays -

• A representative from Arkansas Western Gas Cog appeared before the Council with
request to erect a sign that -was larger than provided for by Ordinance No 783, after die

The question of awarding the contract for the construction CLEAR CWEK DAM for
.ear Creek Water Supply of the Cijy Water Department, which had been Iiostponed from the
.journed meeting. of August 4th, came up for d1scussion, and Mr. Stapp; representative of
Le Max A.Mehlburger Engineering firm, was present, and stated that his firm had made a
Lorough study of the bids submitted on the Project,•and it was their recommendation that
Le•contract be awarded to S.E.Evans Construotion..CO•T of Ft.Smith, who had submitted the

arded to S.E.Evans Construction for $202,775.00, and that the Mayor and City Clerk be
thorized to sign the contract, this motion was seconded by Alderman McGoodwin, and was
