After discussion, Alderman Whitfield made a motion that Mr. Looney be permitted nstall said line as requested, said installation to be done under the supervision of thi ity Engineer, with a further provision that when Mr. Looney has collected enough from onnections to pay cost of installation and interest, that the Sewer Line revert to the ity of Fayetteville, this motion was seconded by Alderman Oray, and was passed unanimous y the Council* Dr.D.A.Fletcher appeared before the Council and requested that he be ex mt from Parking Meter regulations, after discussion, Alderman Whitfield made a motion t] fte request be referred to, the Mayor and Street Committee for investigation and a recomm tion at the next regular meeting of the Council, this motion was seconded by Alderman illiams, and was passed unanimously by the Council: est The Mayor presented the request of A.W.Polly for the City to cut 2 tre in Fletcher Street, Alderman Hale made a motion that Mr. Polly be granted permission to ut the trees mentioned, this motion was seconded by Alderman Williams, and was passed nanimously by the Council. Alderman Bohe introduced the follwing Resolution and moved its adopts econded by Alderman Hale, which was passed unanimously by the Council* RESOLUTION................ FORM PD, lnn9 --Treasury Department, Bureau of the Public Debt. (Rev, Jan. 1941) RESOLVED, That G.T.Sanders and.J.W.McGehee, Mayor and City Clerk, spectively, of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, a. Municipal Corporation, are hereby intly and severally authorized and empowered to sell and assign any and all United Stal curities of any description now or hereafter registered on the Yiooksuof the Treasury partment and registered securities with respect to which the Treasury Department acts e transfer agency in the name of City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,a municipal. Corporation which may now or hereafter be assigned tm it. And it is further resolved, That any and all asignments of any such sectrit: isterd in the name of,t:or assigned to, this corporation heretofore or hereafter made the above-named officers, are hereby ratified and confirmed. I , esent: Mayor G.T.Sanders; City Clerk J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson, City gineer E.T.Brown, and Aldermen, Hale, g'eathers, Bohe,,William8, Whitfield, White and ay. Absent : Alderman Harlan. The Mayor stated that the meeting XHBi{meKUKipMad been called to discuss the ,possibility of making a contract with Mr Mehlberl3er for Engineering fees for the Water Plant ,project,to approve the Apointment of W.C.Smith to succeed -Henry A George, who had resigned as Assistant Engineer, Assistant Superintendant of the WRter Plant, and Superintendant of 'thelSewer Disposal Plant, to -approve the apointment of Burl Skelton as Fire Chief, and to take some action with'regard•to a car for the use of the.Fire Chief. The Mayor statedthat he had worked out an agreement with W.00Smith for him to take over the places vacated by the resignation of.Henry A Geor)3e,Viz: Assistant City Engineer, Assistant Water Superintendant and Superintendant of The Sewer Disposal Plant, at a salary of $4nOeOn per month, The Water D partment to pay 275.nn,Street Dept to pay $75.On and the Sewer Disposal Plant to pay 5�S.e)n,.respectively, per month, Alderman .'Halle made a motion that the Council Approve the agreement,as outlined by the Mayor, and tha' W.CI.Smith be employed on the -terms mentioned, to become effective sometime after January '1st, 1949. This motion was seconded by Alderman Whitfield and was passed unanimously bythe Council. ' The Mayor stated that he had appointed Burl Skelton as Fire Chief on a temlporary basis for 6n days,•until the Civil Service Commission could.hold an examination .and certify some one for the place of Fire Chief, Alderman Hale made a motion that the ,Apdointment be Approved, this motion was seconded by Alderman Williams, and was ,passed unanimously by the Councils - I - The question of a CAR for the use of .the FIRE CHIEF came up for disaus sion, Alderman Hale mane a motion that the Water Committee and the Fire Committee be autho ize�d to work out an agreement with reference to the car belonging to the Water Department, that had been used by Henry George while he was Fire Chief, this motion was seconded by Alderman Feathers, and was passed unanirnousl-y by the Council. Mr. Mehlburger appeared before the Council at this time, and a general "RgUND TABLE" discussion was had with reference to the ENGINEFR ING CORTRACT on the LAKE PR9JECT, after which it was the agreement that no action be taken at this time, butt -that the1 Council members take it under advisement and be ready to report at the regular meeting De ber 13, There being no further business, Alderman Hale moved to adjourn, second by lderman Gray, which was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declared the Council adjourned.
