Alderman.Williams presented a request from some of the members of the ice Police Department for an.increase in salary, in the discussion, it was brought out that ,uest if an increase was granted, it would have to include all the Departmente, alderman Hale rease made a motion that the matter be made a SPECIAL ORDIU( of business at the next regular n 0meeting, and that the Mayor and Finance'committee make a study of the finances and make ary• a recommendation to the Council, this motion was seconded by Alderman Williams, and was assed unanimously by the Council. irches Alderman Whitfield made a motion that the 'Churches be notified that if they have wanted a space marked off in front of their chueh, if they would make the request and .ding agree to pay the expense of painting the space tha`f their request would be granted, thiS e motion was seconded by Alderman Hale, and was passed unanimously by the Council. )spial Alderman Gray made a motion that•the City*Attorney be instructed to file ie to �n appeal to the SUPREME -COURT, the case of HOSPITAL BdARD OF CONTROL VS. Lwn Alderman Whitfield made a motion that a better lighting system be install: :s on d on College Avenue from Spring Street to Teenton Boulevard, this motion was seconded ;e Ave. Alderman Williams, and was passed unanimously by the Council. A RESOLUTION from the Chamber of Commerce was presented, in whit h they Lutions (requested the Council to consider additional street lights for College Avenue and Dickso' I Street, also, a RESOLUTION urging the Council to explore all the possibilities to make )ber of he proposed hard surface runways at Drake Field long enough to meet.the requirements fierce of the various organizations that it is anticipated will use the airport within the near future, alderman Hale made a motion that the RESOLUTIONS be received and that the one with reference to the airport be referred to the airport committee, this motion was seconded by Alderman Adkisson, and was passed unanimously bZJ,;he Council. Cola Alderman Gray made a motion that the Coca Cola Company be permitted to place to be a coca cola box in the Administration Buliding, this motion was seconded by Alderman )ed in Adkisson, and was passed unanimously by the Council. Alderman Harlan made a motion that the City Attorney be authorized to ' )rneys contact all of the City Attorneys of the cities that have filed a protest against the )present proposed increase in rates by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and work out some )s at.. agreement two or three of the Attorneys to -represent the Cities at Little Rock when the Lng request come up for a hearing, this motion was seconded by Alderman Williams, and on roll call b the Clerk, the following vote was recorded; Aye: Adkisson, Harlan, Bohe, Williams a White. Nays: Hale, Whitfield and Gray. And the -Mayor declared the motion passed, as/there were 5 Ayes, and 3.Nays. There being no further. business, Alderman Williams moved to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Hale, which was passed unanimously by the Council, .and the Mayor declared the Council,adjourned.
