Present: Mayor G.T.Sanders, City Clerk. J.W.McGehee, City Attorney Price Dickson, City Engineer E.T.Brown and Fire Chief Henry George, and Aldermen,; Hale, Adt:isson,Harlan,_••:a Bohe, Williams, Whitfield, White And Gray. The Mayor stated that this adjourned meeting was for the purpode of opening the bids and awarding a contract for the purdhase of parking meters, and stated there were 5 bids submitted, 3 of the automatic type and 2 Of the manually operated type. The Council first took•a secret ballot on the choice,of types, which was unanimo inrfavor of the automatic type, the Council then took a secret ballot on the choice of bid& submitted by the 3 automatic parking meter Companies, which vote eliminated the bid of the Dual Parking Meter -Company. The Council then took a secret ballot oil the bids of,the Karpark Mete'r.::•' Co. and the Park -O -Meter Co., with the result that the Karpark received 5 votes and the Park - Parking 0 -tooter 3. and the Mayor declared the contract awarded to KarparRMeter Company. meters 1 purchased , Alderman Whitfield made a motton that the Mavoib and the Street Committee be given authority to determine the number of Parking meters to be purchased and the location of the same, and that the Mayor, City Clerk and City Attorney be authorized to sign a contract with the Karpark Meter Company for the number of -Parking meters that the Mayor and Street Committee recommend as bung needed, this motion was seconded by Alderman Harlan, and was passed unanimously by the Council*, ?here being no further business, Alderman Hale.moved to adjourn, seconded by Alderman Adkisson, which was passed unanimously by the Council, and the Mayor declar the Council adjourned. Brown, in consideration of permission granted to me by the City of Fayettevlil.le to construct an apartment at second story height across an EastJiest driveway in Block (4) of the Original Town of Fayetteville, agree that I will keep said driveway open for the accommodation of such traffic as has,heretofore passed through.said driveway. Whereas, the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas is of the opinion that the present buildings of. City Hospital are not satisfactory and cannot be made so by the expenditure of such amounts as are available;: Now, therefore, be it resolved by -the City.Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, that the Board of Control of Fayetteville City Hospital make a thorough investi- gation of the possibility of disposing of the present property and the acquisition of a more suitable location in the City of Fayetteville, and the erection of a new, modern hospital of fireproof construction;.and that such hospital be constructed, preferably, in connection •Nith'Washington County.in order that all available funds may be used to best advantage and for a common purpose. . THE SOUTHWEST QUARTER OF SECTION SEVENTEEN, ALL IN TOWNSHIP SIXTEEEN NORTH, RANGE THIRTY WEST, AS A, PART OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, ASSIGNING SAID TERRITORY TO WARDS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. Whereas, the County Court of Washington County, Arkansas, did on November 190 1947, make an order annexing the landshereinafter described to the City of Fayettevild Arkansas, and Whereas, after the expiration of thirty days from the date of said order the County Clerk of Washington County, Arkansas., did make a transcript of the proceedings in said County Court, certified the same and forwarded a copy to the City of Fayette- ville, Arkansas,there having been no protests or objectrions filed in the original pro- ceedings and no appeal from the orddr of the said County Court within said thirty day ' period. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Councia of the City of Fayetteville Arkansas: SECTIONI. The Clerk then read the Ordinance the second time, and after dd<scussion, Aldep man Williams made a motion that the rules be -further stspended and the Ordinance placed on its third and final reading, this motion was seconded by Alderman White, and was passed unanimously by the Council. T7,e Clerk then read the Ordinance the third and final time. The Mayor then put the questdion "Shall the Ordinance pass?", and on roll call by the Clerk, the follwing vote was redorded; Ayes: Adkisson, Harlan, Bohe, Williams, White and Gray. Absent and not voting: Hale and Whitfield.. And the Mayor declared the Ordinance passed, as there were 6 Ayes, and no Nays. Alderman White made a motion that the emergency clause be adopted, this motion was seconded by Alderman Adkisson, and on roll call by the Clerk, the following vote was recorded, Ayes.: Adkisson, Harlan, Bohe, Williams, White and Gray. Absent and not voting: Hale and Whitfield. And the Mayor declared the emergency clause adopted, as there were 6 Ales and no Nays.
